and the larger number there are to choose from gives each one an opportunity to teat his popularity, and show whether his nomination would strengthen the party in the county. Tbe names of several aspirants will be found in the Cceieb's columns to-dav.

Fob Cocsty Co muss io neks. In

tbe proper place in the Goceieb it will be seen that Mr. Herman Teder. of Marion tewnship, has announced as a candidate for the nomination for commissioner for the 2d district. Mr. Teder is serving his first year as commissioner, but because there is no election in 1903, tbe officer must be elected next Fall, and he desires to succeed himself. Mr. Teder ha shown considerable ability for the position ia the short time he ha filled the office, and be will not likely have any opposition. The old wheel-horse of Jackson township. Mr Joseph Fritz, also annouucee as candidate for tbe 3d district. Mr. Fnti understands the duties of tbe office a well as any man except tbe county auditor, and has filled the office for some years to the satisfaction of tbe voters gen e rally, and being popular besides, is likely to he nominated at the primary without opposition. The fact remains that while these gentlemen have made acceptable ofneers, tbe office of county commissioner ought to be abolianed by tbe neat Legislature, and the county Auditor made responsible in name as he is now in fact lor the conduct of the business of the various couotie of the State, as he ia the
