Ä-The Indianapolis Southern R. R. is asking a right of way into Indianapolis as a "coal road." This is a great farce. For three-fourths of its length, a mapped, it does not touch a workable vein of coal, being laid of! about 80 to 80 miles east of the coal beds. The coa! along its proposed route till it reaches Ferdinand is only from 11 to M inches thick. But its building would help its stockholders, who are also stockholders in French Lick, and would go through a good agricultural region, and would help Indianapolis business, too. "Congressman Zenor writes one of Jasper's citizens that he visited the P. 0. department last week and obtained a promise that a special inspector would be sent next week to look over an asked for rural free delivery route from Jasper to Ireland, Hillsboro church, lower Boone tp. to the Otwell and Portersville road, east to Portersville and return to Jasper. This would make a popular route through a well settled region but we are afraid is a little long for a carrier to do his duty well and get over every day. Frkedom of Speech. J u d g e Baker, of the U. S. district court, has issued an injunction to prevent Union striking employees of the Conkey Publishing Co., from talking to the scabs who take their positions. He fined one E. E. Bessette l-'ÖO for violating the order of court. Judge Baker, in fining Bessette, took the ground that a striker under the injunction had no right even to talk to other employ s or to try to persuade them in any way from continuing at their work. Commissioner's Court Met Monday, all present. The county officers reported funds collected: Auditor, 13l. 40; Clerk, $410 70; Recorder, :;:;s.25; Sheriff, $347. 55. Woods. Bids to serve for one year as county attorney were received as follows: Bretx A McFall, 120; Traylor A Traylor, $130; Milburn A Sweeney, $100. Over -Work Weakens Your Kidneys. Unhealthy Kidneys Make Impure Blood. All the blood in your body passes through your kidneys once every three minutes.
The kidneys are your blood purifiers, they filter out the waste or Impurities in the blood. If they are sick or out of order, they fail to do their work. Pains, aches and rheumatism come from excess of uric acid tr. the blood, due to neglected
kidney trouble. Kidney trouble causes quick or unsteady heart beats, and makes one feel as though they had heart trouble, because the heart is over-working in pumping thick, kidney-
poisoned blood through veins and arteries. it used to be considered that only urinary troubles were to be traced to the kidneys, but now modern science proves that nearly all constitutional diseases have their beginning in kidney trouble. If you are sick you can make no mistake by first doctoring your kidneys. The mild and the estraordinary effect of Dr. Kilmer's

A synopsis of President
Roosevelt's first message to congress
will be found on the Coukiek aux

men a chance to exploit them, and make some money in the speculation. Altogether, however, the message is a fairly good one, as it
throws the entire responsibility on congress.

corn growing in this state, has there been more smut present on the fodder than can be found this fall. The
conditions for development were
very favorable and some fields are very badly infected. The presence
f much smut on fodder is populary believed to cause disease among
stock. A number of communica tions have been received during the past two weeks, reciting losses due to this cause. This belief is very
old, as one of the earliest writers
upon smut in 17M felt it to be nec
essary to make experiments to demonstrate the truth or fallacy of the
belief at that time.
If we take the results of all avail
able experiments from that date to the present time, as a basis for a conclusion instead of the statements of those who lost animals thought
to be due to this cause, the real danger to stock from eating corn smut is very small. In the experiments of feeding smut, the quantity has often been made many times greater than it would be possible for an animal to obtain in the ordinary grazing on stalks. The periods
