Democratic Coaaltiee Meetlif . The Democratic State committee met Wednesday, and called district meetings for the purpose of choosing district committeemen for Jan. 2, and the new committeemen to meet and organize at Indianaoolis
Jan. 8. The representation at the district meetings wax fixed at one
rteleeate for everv 200 votes cant for
1 for hi fraction over
100. This call will necessitate county conventions all over the
State during Dec. and the time ha
not yet been nxed in Dubois coun
sait will be seen by an extract
irom the I. A. Ledger that Mr.
Pickhardt, of the Huntingburg Sig
nal, is trying abroad to injure the
prospects of a home man for Congress. If the candidate lived in
Huntmgburg is it probable "Pick" would do so? But as he lives in Jasper cut his political throat if possible ! Speaking of "blind" streets, a little walk will show that 4th, Gtb, 8th and 9th streets, are open to the west line of the Jasner incnrnr.ra.
tion, as originally platted. Clav
street is the only street in town not opened to the full width called for a. a , .
oy tue original plat, and as more people travel on Clay street to the Catholic church, schools and college, than on any other Jasper streets and as it is the only street running south and north, west of Newton street, for nearly a fourth of a mile, it should be ooened to it
platted width, as if residents on one side of a street have a right to fence in 20 feet of the street, those on the opposite side have the same right, and when done there would be no street at all. Remove all obstructions from the streets as platted, and it will be time enougn to look after those not platted. Seester for Daviess aad Dubois.

gooa as non. inman, lor lack of experience, but fairly good. But the Courikr had the very best authority for stating, as it did several weeks since, that his law partner, Hon. Mike Sweeney, would be a
candidate for the nomination when
the primary should be called, and it is not likely that both members of the law firm will be candidates.

De, nowever, tbat Daviess county will want to be consulted in the matter, too, and it will require under any circumstances, several five dollar bills to secure ths nomination. It's a good thing for The People when all aspirants for honorable positions are fully capable to fill them, and have the money to spend to get them, besides.
