making a tight against filth distrtbut ing McAdam streets in that city
The Ledger is right. Asphalt or

McAdam is a good thing, if kept properly repaired each year but
the keeping in repair costs piles of
money and furnishes lots of work
for men and teams.

bad there been a night train back Notwithatanding, the News is in formed that some of the Jasper peo pie publicly express their displeas ure at what they term the slim at tendance from this city. The rail
road company wanted a guarantee of $35 for a night train, but the management of the Calumet Lake
Co. refused to give it. We happen to know that certain of our public spirited citizens opposed a general celebration here on the Fourth, for no other reason than to give our own people, and others who would have spent the day here, an opportunity to go to Jasper, or some other celebration in the county. Under the circumstances the attendance from this place was all that could have been exported. Huntingburg News. It may be that some Jasper people, or people from other townships who expected to meet Huntingburg friends here on the 4th, were a little put out at not meeting them but the Courier has heard no complaints on that score, as the crowds from other places were so large the Huntingburg people were not generally missed. But 125 is not a very large delegation for a friendly city, within 7 miles, of over 2,600 people. Country citizens outside of Huntingburg, who bought R. R. tickets there, were surely as many as those who drove over to the dance at night. Jasper has sent double that number to the Huntingburg Fair, political meetings and base ball games, several times. And if the statement about the R. R. company wanting $35 guaranteed for a night train is true, the directors of the Lake company say they knew nothing of such an offer, and, of course did not refuse it. The trouble is, Huntingburg folks missed a good thing, and want to
hbu an excuse lor the blunder.

How to Drink Iced Tea. "If you will drink iced tea," says a physician, "and you are taking large liberties with your digestion to do so, at least prepare it rt onally. Pour freshly made tea di rectly over the cracked ice. This method is much to be preferred to that of letting the tea stand to cool gradually, a process by which the injurious effec' of the tanin is considerably increased. " H a rpe r ' s Bazar.
