I K Stitcmeot ia Retard te Ray Brown s Death. Jastkr, Ind., June W, 1901 Kditok Couhikh: In answer to an item in the Huntingburg News, in which the editor says, "0 R Brown the E. & T. H. brakeman committed suicide, and thst he, Brown, had a disagreement with his girl which led to the tragedy." Those best acquainted with ia Brown and the surroundings believ that he did not commit suicide, but was murdered. Kay Brown was a young man of exemplary habits, sober and industrious, and for a young man of his chances in good circumstances; had saved money enough from bis earnings to pay for a good farm in Pike Co He was e igaged to be married to s young lady in Princeton. Ind., but he and the girl, nor he and the girl parents never had any trouble, but had always been, and was at th time of Brown's death, on the best of terms. Rav Brown had retted a house in Kansville, and had in tended to purchnse furniture for the house on the day that he was murdered. He hid talked tc the fa ther and mother of his girl in regard to what he ought to buy to go in the house. In this conversation t! a old people told Brown what they expected to givj their daughter. At that time Brown took out of his pocketbook $120, placed a rubber string around it and put it in his pocket, remarking at the time that thnt would probably piy for whit they would get to begin with. He had this money a few h-urs before bo lost his life, and up tu the piesent time the $120 has not been found. Now these are th facts, a- gath ered by tho-e who have known Uay Brown all his life, and who b.-deve that the papers sre doing a gr. at inyitui g man look his own life, when there is no evidence to b ar out that theory.
