The town election in .Jasper last Monday drtw out 294 voters, about two thirds of t hot e io the corporation, of these 25 ballots wen- rejected in counting, on account of being wrongly mark ed. The only contest SSI for t nisteof the 5tfa ward, and Mr. George Koelle pot there by one vote. He does not take the place under the new law, until next May, Mr. I.orev having another year to erve. The following is the vote received bv the various candidate ! Marshal, Kd. (iutweiler -J:;ö: Clerk, John H. .Judy. 285; Treasurer, John I'. Huther, L'Jtl; I'm-tees, lt ward, John H. Uerber, 227; 2d ward. Henry L. Lntnpert,224 ; 84 ward. John tidier, 'J'iT; Hh ward, Jacob Smith, 224; öth ward, John horey, 180, John Hatter, 6, QsOffe " Ruelle, 181. T ital vote counted -'Go. Ii.i.koai Ki.kction. There is a good deal of talk about town about the election in Jasper on Monday last bei.ig illegal, on account of three CSBOMStSS I t the Mime otlice b-ing placed ander the rooster, The 1 iw says: Acts of 1 S.7 . Sec. 1. "If the same devi e for designating candidates be -lect 1 hy two parties or groope of petitioners, it -hall be given to the one which first selected it, and a -uital le device -hall I)1 lected for the others." This was not complied with by the election botrd, and probabh result is that all the old Trustees; and oth r officers will hold over for two years, till the next election in VM):',. It is said, too, that the 26 votes thrown out were lejected because a cross was marked in front of one name, and a pencil nark made through the other two. The Supreme court decided they should not be rejected for this defeat, if the election board is able to determine from them who the voter intended to v t for. Such is. the law, and it is very important to the town that all our town boardshould be legal ones, that ordinances may be legally enforced. Intekktixu Statistics. M r. Geo, M. ireene. the popular tru--tee of Madison township, furnishes the reader- of the CoUEICH the following information, deri. ed during his enumeration of voters: Tie re are 332 males entitled to vote in the town-hip. savers faroeles si wAl qualified but who are not entitled to e. of school per.-oi.s between t and
years of age to the county superintendent, as uiven below. It will be stea that there bee been a r.et increase of 40 in the county over taut year, though some of the townships tell wofully behind. The falling behind in Bainbridge and Hall tosvnebipe will likely compel an increase of the tax levy in those town -hips for tuition to enable schools to bfl taught tOS 120 days now required by law. n- the law also tixes the salaries of teachers higher there than heretofore generally.
The Discoverer of Swamp-Root at Work is
Eli Laboratory. There Is a disease prevailing in this cojrr.ry most dangerous because so deceptive. Many sudden deaths are caused by i! heart disease, pneumonia, heart failure or apoplexy aie often the result of kidney disease. If kidney trouble is allowed to advance the k.dney-poisoned tlood will attack the vital organa, or the kidr.eys themselves break down and waste away cell by cell. Then the richness of the blood the albumen leaks out and the sufferer has Bright's Di-ea:e. the worst fcrm of kidney trouble. Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root the new discovery is the true specific for kidney, bladder and urinary troubles. It has cured thousands of apparently hopeless cases, after all other efforts have failed.
