THE LOVE LETTEtS OP AN I HSU LASSIE. (All atakw SUaarved.) LETTER FOUR. Concluded. Although you have said before that you were in doubt as to whether you loved ber. Now, my dear boy. I think from your description of Mies Laura she is a beautiful little girl, hasel eyes and brown eyes, and brown hair, a fair complesion, is loreiy. She is young yet, and perhaps has not been led to realire the great necessity of becoming a christian in ber early youth. I think a person is never too young. I think nbe is a
lady in every sense of the woid.
Boys will be boys and girls will be gills, invariably they will work against each other. V Miss L. is a quick and strict observer, she lost a great deal of her respect or Mr. B. When you bear a lady or gentleman spek highly of others you can consider them high miuded people, but to hear them trying to degrade others in society is very wt-akrainded. I think both of those two young rxen are entirely two faced. I glory in h.T pluck for not telling him which one she liked best. It would have served him right if she had told him to tend to his own business. Perhaps ehe did. His eyes may charm her for a time, but the most charming actor will in time become less charming, and the demure actor will come along with his charms bidden for a time; like the precious little pearls, they have to be sought afttr and gathered one by one, while tbe other actors mere gathered a gross at a time; his will soon diminish, and she will be busy gathering tbe other's charms, and in time he will be so beautiful in her sight (though his eyes be not blue-black as a tempestuous night.) she will say to herself : "Would that life were one long summer evening, and his eyes the only stars that shone within my skies." Maybe she will not always say it to herself, but will whisper it in your ear, and it will send a thrill of joy to your heart. Dear Frank you have acted nobly, although your patience has been tried to the utmost, you have borne it all so heroically, and you will reap youi reward. Patience is a virtue. You are a ycung man and it is not necessary for me to tell you how to tet her affection, a all young men are acquainted with such schemes I think Miss Is, was very undecided for a time; but I also think it is very evident that she has taken you in preference to the other two, and theti her father thinking a great deal of you would, of course, have some influence with her. For it is very disagreeable to a young lady to keep company with any young man that her parents dislike. So there is where the other boys' stumbling block was snd your stepping stone. She gave that fellow up very easily, I'm thinking, most too easy, for her to think very much of hiru. For if she had thought more of him than you when her father gave him his walking stick, she wculd not have gone with you to plea-e her father, because she knows he thinks a good deal of you. Every sign is in your favor so far as my comprehension goes. And I am thinking that you know you can win her if you want to; and if you try to win her, Frane, re true to heb. Frank, I will now endeavor to show you two different girls think which would make the best wife, and I want you to tell me. I have in my mind which would. The first one will be highly educated, a splendid performer on the piano, and able to sing like a nightingale, can dance like a fairy. Her parents have granted her every wish of her heart. She is a belle in society. 1 as many gentlemen admirers, and tries to capture all their hearts by ber playing, siuging. dancing and smooth flowing conversation. As she enters the hall-room every eye follows her beautiful, stalely figure, dressed in the most costly clothes, and many inquiries are made and compliments spoken. You can hear the young men call her a perfect angel. She is my ideal. She meets with a very nice young man, and she captures him and he wins her affection, what she has. She is too giddy to be the possessor of a true love. The second girl is in moderate circumstances, has juet a tolerable good education, cannot sing or play the piano, does not care very much for dances, but more for painting and fancy work. She is not a belle in society, but is very demure, loving, and a good christian. Her chief delight is in trying to make a cheerful and beautiful home. She is loved by all who know her, but most by a very sincere young man who thinks he would like to have her for a helpmate in life; he offers her his noble heart and gets in return a sincere and everlasting love. Which is tbe happy man? I expect you'll think verv strange of me aski ng you all this, but I have an object in it. Don't apply either one of these descriptions to Miss L., for I don't know whether either one of them would fit her or not, but I presume some parts would suit ber, and you knw those parts. I think Miss L would make a good wife, and more, I think you can win her. Frank, if you are going to try to win her I want you to tell me, will you? And I don't want you to write any more letters like you have, if you are going to make love to her. I WANT YOC TO BE TRI E TO HEB. But I don't want you to quit corresponding. I don't think that will be necessary. And I will eapect an answer to this veby soojt. I will be ia great suspense until I know your decision. Frank, haven't you got your picture yet ; I do want it so bad. I have been looking for it so long. Send mine as soon as you get through with it. Dear Frank, do you still expect to come and see me Christmas? I do hope you wont disappoint me. But I suppose if you decide on Miss L. you can't come. Frank, I expect you think this is a terrible letter, but if I could describe my feelings you wouldn't think it strange, and if any part don't suit you, don't be afraid to speak out and tell me. I've a little scheme I want you to help me in. I will tell you about it in my next letter. I thought of you Monday and wish you all tbe success you can possibly have God bless you. Please excuse this miserably worded letter. I am as ever, your loving LoiA P. S -Please destroy this letter after reading. (To be continued.)
