Father and myself went to Alexandria at 9 a. m. this morning, and we stopped at his home to call upon him. We found him in bed, but suffering no pain whatever. He was talking freely to us. He was not considered to be very sick at all. We left him talking business to a man, and when we returned at 5:30 p. m. we called at his house again and found him dead. To say that we were surprised does not express it. A gentleman friend was talking to him at aliout 1 : 15 p. m., when Mr. Mc-
