Jasi'kk School Notks, The name f Cicero I Mark was accidentally omitted from the list of pupils, neither ab at nor tardy for the month of January, in Miss Wilson's report, as published last wt ek. Tf)e Tell City News of last week said this of Jasper's educational in terests : "The Jasper High School has been granted a commission by tho State Hoard of Kducation. Jasper is rapidly coming to the front as an educational center. She now has a col U ge for young men. an academy of music and tine arts for young ladies, a con. missioned high school, and a corps of twentyrive instructors in h r various schools. "
HaEx Got. Boies, of Iowa, who
imagines he knows something about
finance, but don't seem to the common man to know anything, made a speech at Fairfield. "la., Tuesdaynight, in which he favored a law c impelling the Secretary of the U. S Treasury to gamble in the market on the daily values of gold and silver bullion. As well compel him to gamble, as do the members of Boards of Trade, and Commercial Exchanges1, and many banks, in "futures" of ootfrin wheat and pork. And the trouble with the common people is that it is these kinds of Hannas who are depn ssing wages and prices of laborers' products, of all kinds, with their brainless fancies. Take a seat, (Jov., and cool your head. New Firm. Mrs. Alice Cramberg and Mrs. Alice R. Greene have formed a partnership in the dressmaking and millinery business and will be pleased la have your patronage. Otwell Outings. A Theodore Cleveland Munchausen, he of the great being qualifications, in his laut week's. Press items seems much worried, after calling others nickrnamcs, to lie called "Cleveland," a man whom he claims he favor abdominally. He lays no claim to favoring old tirover in the head. 01 no, Theo, only has a brainless knot. He admires tinner's Americanism; he says his notorious seduction of Maria Halpin, his hiring an army substitute, and after the war ended letting the substitute die in the joor house, this is the kind of Americanism this bomhastic freak of nature admires and lands to the skies. We are glad this ranting fold toad bellied tumble bug has come out and told us of his cherished idol. If he had done this long ago it would have laved him the trouble of
raising a racKei w iui tue naaiOCK DOVI and calling them vicious names, lie claims to be a raiser of Berkshire hogs, shepherd dogs, poultry, roosters of the "active" variety, etc. ; he might, also, say that he is a breeder of strife and contention in his neighborhood ; a grand jury he; ich man, a turmoil producer, a general meddler in other people's business. Sometime ago he rushed into print accusing some of the "saints" of theft. Not long sine he praised them as Otwell's most respected citizens. He accuses us of sitting around waiting for something to turn up. While he sits ar und on his Cleveland avoirdiipois waiting for his mother-in-law to draw her pension. We write our own item ; we do not gei sore-headed defeated candidates to help us out. This splenic SK?cies of compost fungi poses as a Refnblican, and frankly says he is a Cleveandite, whose name'he will never deny. He intimates that we get material aid at election times. This accusation Sir irover knows is one of his own foul dirty lies, of which his stinking otter slide mouth is fully fully qualified for. He also charges or hints that we stay awav from the polls on election day. This is another nf his dirtv I., ing effusions, of which he seems full from heart to rind. He seems, to have an esjieeial hatred for township trustee I,ouis Travlor.
