Mr. Kd. Ciutgsell, of Jasper, came down Saturday evening to see Cieo. Kellams ride the goat in the Odd Fellows Lodge. The goat was pretty tough to ride, but he couldn't dump Haker. Mr. Benjamin Dillon went to Velpen the first of the week on business. Did yon know that H. M. Kean lost a key Saturday? Horace looks lown hearted about it. If he will .ffer a suitable reward we think the tey will be restored to him all O. K. J. E. Norman, Esq., went to Petersburg Monday. Mr. Fred DeBruler, of Algiers vhs the guest of Miss Km ma Horion Sunday. Mrs. Mollie Fierst, of Jasjier, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. 0. Johnson Saturday and Sunday.
Rev. J.I. Oregory bought a new piano organ from F. C. Koebler, of Jasper, last week. It is just a beauty, and has the sweetest tone of any instrument in town. Our people here are wild with enthusiasm at the prospect that our fellow townsman, C. J. Kvrard, has if being elected Co. Supt. on June 7th. It has been generally understood iver the county for months past that Supt. Geo. R. Wilson would not be a candidate for re-election, but it seems that Bob has bobbed up again, and if the trustees of the county follow the wishes of the people in the matter he will be buried -o deep in defeat that he will not he able to bob up again for some time. Bob has made us a very good Supt., but he does not understand the art of quitting ; so if he insists on entering the race it seems to us that it will be the duty of the trus
tees to give him a lesson in that art, and by defeating him aay to him, "v,m are all right but there are others." Mr. Kvrard is an able man, and one who is in every way well quali
fied for the position his friends wish
mm to obtain. Ve say success to Kvrard. A Friknd.
