Fhii ea the Wakasb. Robert Downing, tho actor, and
its leading man were out for a con-
titutional. Thev were walking
own Main-st. admiring the Easter
w indows and one thing and another when th?y came opposite the Oak
lall drug store window. In the
window was a large paste board box with two large round holes in it.
On the box was a sign which read,
Fine bull pups, f 10 a piece."
Now Downing is a great dog fancier
and so he went over to have a peep
them and if thev suited him he
would buy one. Downing looked through one hole and his leading
man in the other at. the same time.
looking-glass confronted them
with this sign on it: "This bull
pup, sold." In an instant the
thought of April fool's day entered their minds and they both broke into a hearty laugh over their bull
nip experience. As Downing
walked a way he remarked that the
pups were too cheap to buv and that
they ought to give them away. But
the actor and his leading man were
not the onlv ones. Terre Haute
Tribune.
He's a Good One. The Coi'kiek, of Jasper, in a engthv editorial in a recent issue
takes up unnecessary space to prove that Mr. McCutchin. of Vander-
bttrg county, act! of the late "la
mented Legislature," is a great liar.
He is the same old "bobtail" who
reported to his associates that the business of the Court in this county was not attended to; that he had had cases in court here for three
months and couldn't get a trial, when Republican lawyers are witnesses to the fact that in one of his . , t
cases he tooK a cnange oi venue
from the county, and as to the others, after procuring delays and con
tinuances askng a lie could, his
associate attorney dismissed. Rut a sneaking lie or false pretense of some kind seems to hive been more current with that body than honest truth. Oakland Citv'Free Press.
