Teaching as a Steppiag-Stone.
It is not the making of teaching a
stepping-stone that does the most hurt, but the failure of most of us

a mere shift, sitting out so much time for so much money, without any desire for doing good or fear of doing evil, not only lacks the spirit of a teacher, but he also lacks the
common decency of manhood. These are strong words, and we mean them as intensely as any we ever wrote. Who is guilty, lut him wince.

learn to know when the period o
drinking is coming on. Then come
the tears, and the pleadings, and
the broken promises. The debauch follows, the patient undergoes the

drink until the return of his period
