The New Tax Levy.
The county commissioners this week lixed the tax levy for next
year, which we publish herewith, It will be seen there is a .substantia
decrease m the total levy m every
township, though the township levy
in Cass, and special school inllunt-
ingburg have been increased. The
county levy has been decreased six
cents on each .f 100. Several township trustees made their local levies
larger because of the railroad no
paying its tax, and the large delin
quency now due from it. this railroad tax is likely to be paid the present year, as Att'y Gen. Smith has notified the Receivers that unless it is promptly paid he will sue for the amount due, and has already sent to all tho counties along the line asking for certified statements of sums due. The following table also shows the amount each township will receive from this source. The corporation taxes of Huntingburg, Jasper and Birdseye are not embraced in the table only the special school tax and that from Birdseye is not yet reported. The taxes in 1S93 were only one cent greater than in 1S92. It will be seen that the township levies in all townships but Boone is greater than the county or State levy, and that in a greater part of the townships it is greater than both of them together. The county Board and county Auditor deserve credit for the reduction of the county tax, and the supervision exercised over the township levies. Taxpayers, by carefully studying the table, can see where the taxa
tion originates. Dandruff is due to an enfeebled state
of the skin. Hall's Hairltenewerquick-
ens the nutritive functions of the skin, healing and preventing the formation of dandruff. JÖ-If Jasper's town trustees would select a committee of two of their own number and some good machinist to accompany them, and visit a number of places and examine the various kinds of water works plants, their first cost, expense of operating, purity of supply of water, and how obtained, eliiciency, etc., and pay their expenses from the town treasury, and on return make a report to the full board, embracing the above items,-
the board would be in a better con
dition to judge of the system necessary for Jasper, and could em
to superintend tue
le system adopted,
and the iiionev spent in gaining in
formation would be wisely spent
for the tax-payers, and they would all be satisfied. Pure water should
