Irelaul lakliafg. I. T. Clark, of Jasper, was in our town to see hisj best girl. The lawn party given by tho Star R. R. Club was a success as far as the "Stars" were concerned. What has become of "Madge" and "Rlackeyc" and all the other correspondents to our papers? Our town is almost free from loafers. This hot weather it is said they are out in the country laying in the shade, but alas! a few still remain to play croquet. A cable line from our town to the residence of W. IL II. Greene, is talked of. We hope it will prove
successlul, lor it will ue a great con
venience and also save a great
amount of horse-tlesh.
It seems that the Coukikk corre
spondents of Ireland have sojourned
to a cooler clime, and we think the
editor of our valuable paper will he
glad to hear from our little town during their absence. The Star B. R. club were badly beaten by the Otwell club Sunday at Sulphur Springs. They have resolved not to play again on the Sabbath ; it is a good resolution if it is only carried out. It is rumored that a wedding will take place in our little town in the near future. The "Good Book"
says it is not good for a man to live
alone, therefore some are trying to
fulfill that part of the Scriptures at least. We notice that "Wild Flower" did not appear last week, and we are very much afraid that the hot weather has proved fatal to the delicate blossom. When "Miss Esox" was wandering by the brookside, receiving her noble inspirations from the "Wild Flower" and Rowing rivulet, she did not know she was watched hy the Evkxing Stak.
