A COSY RESIDENCE.

Among tho many pleasant homes

in Jasper that of Recorder Britain Leming is one of the happiest, both in its inmates and their cosy surroundings. The houso is a hand-

ome brick of six rooms and porch,

on Clay street, which was built by

Mr. A. J. Vest, and purchased of

him by Mr. Leming last summer, and is heartily enjoyed by his wife and six children, and with its spacious 3ard, with shrubbery and flowers, presents a very attractive appearance in summer.

The Commissioners upon completing the examination of the Auditor's and Treasurer's books on Saturday made the following record : "The Board having examinodthe records in the Auditor's and Treasurer's offices, as regards roceipts and expenditures of all the funds, and having carefully compared all orders or warrants issued on the Treasurer with tho Commissioners' allowance or issuo docket, and also with the Circuit Court allowances in vacation, from the 1st day of Nov. 1S92, up to and including the 31st day of Oct. 1893, have found them correct, and accounted for, and have also found the balance in county revenue between Auditor and Treasurer correct. We have also compared and carefully investigated all the common and congressional school fund principals, and find them all represented in mortgages, and loaned out as required by law, and that the county did not have to pay any delinquent interest. We also found the records in a neat and good condition, carefully numbered, with n special view of a perfect investigation by the Commissioners. " The last thing the Board did was to contract with John M. Smith for painting court house window frames, when completed, at 50 cents oach for 44 windows.

in readme the Jasoer Uockikk we

lave frequently noticed a card from Dr.

N. II. Wilcon. in which he warns the

good peojde of this section that he is in no wise connected professionally with either Drs. Downs. Green or firown.

Speaking for ourselves we hasten to assure the Doctor that we feel under manv

obligations to him for the explanation.

We are frequently called unon bv his

old customers, who have his "forty-dol-

lar-ience-eorner-lile-guaranteeu" teeth, which are in need of repairs, etc.. anu

the Doctor's explanation may save us this annoyance. The onlv explanation

we can give these old customers of his is

that Dr. Wilson is now located at Wash

mgton, Ind., and that they could lind

11m there, unless he was practicing with .:u . ii:,.i.:... 1 - .7 m

further set them aright, we also tell

them that Dr. Wilson is a much older

man than ourselves, although he does not look it. He can readily be recognized by his short heavy build, luxuriant

black (sometimes) hair and beard, and general well-fed appearance. He is

now a married man,-although he used to

oe single. Dr. Wilton is certainly a very "nrnfer-

sional" man, especially when he takes

occasion to stigmatize regular graduates of recognized dental colleges as "squirts" etc. It may be that in Ins greediness to do all the dental work for this section he

ails to take into consideration the fact

that himself, and one or two others, are the only non-graduates in the county, and such being the case that they are entitled to all the work.

Dr. Wilson's continued obiections to

our practicing in this section has only

shown him up as being very greedy, and iu reading one of his newspaper notices, as published from time to time, in which

le draws on a senile imagination for acts to carry him out. one would natur

ally come to the conclusion that he was in his dotage, and indulging in a favorite

act 01 childishness. Dr. Downs desires to sav in answer to

Dr. Wilson's repeated insinuations as to

the merits 01 ins work, that be (Dr. D.)

guarantees his work as the best. It

speaks for itself. And further that he (Dr. D.) has an excellent letter of rec

ommendation in his possession, signed

by X. H. Wilson, in which the latter

calls particular attention to the qualifications of Dr. Downs to practice dentistry. As to what Dr. Wilson means by "strikers" arid "hangers on," we con

fess we are at a loss to understand his

meaning.

V ismng the doctor everv success in

the practice of his profession, we submit

this statement to any concerned. Verv repectfully, W. G. Downs, D. D. S. F. A Dkow.v, D. D. S.
