Far several years the oitiaens of

Daviess county, who live in the southern part of Reeve township, and who get

way of Evansvllle ami Jasper causing a

delay of nearly a week, when, if the reute was opened by way of Alfordsville,

Each tax-payer may pay the lull amount of his tax on or before the Third Mouday in April, 1889. or may at his option pay the first installment thereof on or be torn the Third Monday in April, 1889, and the second installment on or before the First Monday in November following; but upon failure to pay the first installment on or before the Third Monday in April, then the whole tax becomes delinquent, and a penalty of ten per cent, will be added, and the Treasurer is required by law, after that dale, to collect wiid delinquent taxes by distress or sale of property, if necessary. Examine your receipts and change, and see if all your property is included and your change correct before leaving tba office. Whereas, many persons have been in the habit of paying the taxes of their neighbors and customers on the last collection day, I would request those that propose doing so this year, to let me know for whom they wiah to pay, and whether in full or the first installment, on cr before the middle of March next, so that I can have time to make out their receipts before called for. being unlawfully shot, killed and murdered, with a pistol, held in the hand of Samuel Keeterson. which was by him aimed aud discoarged at the breast of

the aaid Daniel Nicholson, a load of lead

death.
