A ghastly die. oftvery was made hare at the principal of ace of tke Adams Kxpreaa Compaay n j niig 'being emitted from .w whu u wv.. u. this city. The "Had" waa the result ef a trunk, which, when broken open, was found to contain Um dead body of a man. Superintendent James A. Shu tor of the ex pre company hastened to police head quarters, and laid the ease before Chief Frye. Mr. Shutor stated that the marks oa Um trunk, and waybill, showed that It had been shipped from New York City on Saturday night last. It reached Calvert atutiott la thia city on Sunday morning and lay at the station until Monday morn ing, when It waa brought the Baltimore street otioe. The trunk was consigned to John A Wilson, Baltimore, Md., to be called for. It waa put in the eel lar Tuesday. Yesterday morning the porters employed In the eel lars detected a disagreeable order which, as the day wore on, became unbearable. The porters had beaa iu tbe habit of feeding poison to the large family of rodents which infest the cellar and attributed the smell to dead rate. Mr, Shuter's attention was finally called to it, and he concluded Utat the stench came from a trunk. He ordered the trunk to be broken open, and was horn li ml to see the dead body of a mm. Marshal Frye sent the patrol wapoa to the Adams express omee and had the trunk and its ghastly contents removed te tbe hack yard of the Central station. Coroner Hill was seat for, and when he arrived the body was taken from the trunk. It was found Utat the head, left arm and both legs were missing. The right arm was doubled up under the back. The left arm had been cut off at the shoulder, and the legs close to the body. The body was thus mutilated, it is supposed, iu order to get it ia the trunk. ' A coat was thrown over the corpse. It was a cutaway, made of mixed gray and black diagonal material. The coat collar was saturated with blood. Four business cards were found la the pockets, inscribed aa follows: ''Henry Stegel, meat market, :hS Throop avenue, near Floyd street, Brooklyn, E. D." Oa the bottom of the shirt-front was the name "C. KauSrold." Further examination of the marks oa the trunk shows that it was delivered to the Adams Express in New York by the WestesUe Express Companv, which has office at No. 3 Park I'Mce, 314 Canal street, 7S5 Broadway, New York, and at :S Washington street and TO) Fulton street. Brooklyn. The body is evidently that of a young man. It is now at the City hospital, and will be kept as long as possible, pending an investigation by the New York and Brooklyn police, who have been notified. The police here think that 'John A. Wilson," to whom the trdnk was addressed, waa an alias or a myth. WANT IT VETOED. The Knights ef Labor frtHkm the President te Vrtotke Inter-State Commerce Hill Their KeeseiM. Washington', Jan. 27.
