In explanation of tho t'oreiroine. the
chief if the bureau states that the figures
relating to the Christian denominations include all reported by the Cam pi el lite and tne Church of Christ, or the Deciple of Christ. The Mennonites include the Gertttan, Baptists, Dunkers, Dunkards, Tunkers, Ornish. Biver Brethren, or De
fenseless Mennonites. The JCvansrclical
associations, the Evantreiical Protestants,
the Danish Evangelist and the All brights, are all classed as Evangelical.
From the statistics gathered, it is
howa, in addition to the fignres giren in the foregoing table, that the total Dum
ber of church buildings in the State is
4,462. The number of members admit
ted to all denominations, dating the year was 43,839. The salaries paid te
the pastor of these churches annually
amounts to $1,246,913, and the other ex
penses aggregate $21)5,865. Tne amount of money collected through the various
religious organizations and expended for
benevolent or charitable purposes amounted last year to $187,297. There are 24,003 Sunday-school teachers and
they nave 807.671 pupils. The average
attendance or public religions services reaches 498,819. No Place To Go To. The following true itory just reaches as: A Jamaica Plain Republican told his wire, a few days before election, that if Massachusetts went democratic he should leave the State, and added that he meant it, too. Upon waking the next morning after election, he remarked that hie olfactories were not greeted with the usual odors from the kitcben ; and going to the door, he called hie wife to inquire the cause, noting, at the same time, that preparations., to move were apparently
going on down stairs. She informed him quietly that the State had gone demo
cratic, and he called savagely for a paper
that he might know the worst, it was brought to him, and he was closeted with
it for soma time: then,
door, he shouted to his wife : "(lot
breakfast, Mary; no matter about mov
ing, there tart any place to go to," Boston Post.

Druggiet are required to comply with the same provisions, except the payment of the license. They are granted permits and must keep a register of a'l liquors sold.
