JULY 14,

INCENDIAKISM. Fire lu Ireland. On $nndar night betwtMn 12 and 1 oVlock. Mr. Bwtter, of Madison townahtp, wm returning home, and noticed a bright light near Hogt'tt & Co.per' Biilwon In Ireland, this foty. He immediately wont to it, awl found that arm fwrwm had built tire against thr frania saloon building, in the narrow Pmu wsr between it and Anntrone's ttore. ane1 that the weatherhmrdlfM? wu then on fire to the roof.

He sev if he had had a few buckets of

water then he could easily hare extingtiiahed it. A part of the shavings and kiodlintr wood need to start the lire hsd not vet burned up. He immediately raised an alarm, and awoke Mr. Armstrong and other citizens, but by the time bucket and water could be obtained, the saloon build In and also the wareroom and store building of R. A. Arm' strong were enwrapped in flame aa to render any etfort to saTe them useless, and ail bands went to work to tare Arraatronflfs stock of goods. Nearly ail of bit foods were taken out of the hnilding, though some of them are in a dan aged condition. The two bnildings were entirely destroyed. Tbe Armstrong house was worth probab'y 800. and we are informed was folly insured. Ilogou & Cooper's building was probably worth $400. upon which there w an insurance. Tbey alo lost tbeir stock of liquors, but we did not learn the amount. - Various rumors are I n circulation a to tbe motive for the fire, but tbe most gneraJIv referred one is the antipathy uf some of tbe citizens of that township against Muring a liquor saloon hi the township. The people of the Tillage generally

condemn the aet severely, although mostl

of them are aot partial to the saloon It gives a neighborhood a bad name to have such fire, and it is to be hoped

there will be no more of them in this

county. Enforce (he law strictly In regard to the Honor business, and in each

a neighborhood m Ireland, it la not likely to be profitable enough for any 4oe to want to encajre in It long. At

all events violations of law am always

to be etevreceted, aa tending to lower

t the moral standard of a community. Coagrcaaionya CeavesattoB.

We believe it would be bettor now, as every county In the district is acceeaible

The above show what foolish things

personal natrea win sometimes lead men to say. Why, if Mr. Hostettler should

ran as an independent Democrat, (which he hat too good tense to do,) Mr. Cobb would get every Democratic vote in Dubois county, and alto a majority of the

ueounneaa votes. Aa net ween two
