Messengers from Cetcwayo met Sir Garnet

Wolscley on the 12th of August, aaylng the King was willing to submit and pay the taxes, but the country must be cleared of British soldiers. The messengers wore informed

The members of the British Emlmssy who lost their lives by the recent outbreak at Cabul were Ma. Cavagnarl, his Secretary, Jenkins, Dr. Kclley, and Lieut. Hamilton, the latter commanding an escort consisting of 28 cavalry, W) infantry, and a Sepoy guard. Tito troon of the Emlmssy were lodged In two houses in the city. Joined by a fiuadrangle. A dispatch from Allahabad states that pine troopers of the escort were absent from thu city collecting forage at the time of thu outbreak, and thus escaped the general slaughter. 3Taj. Three persons were sent to the New York Quarantine Hospital, passengers by the stonier City of New York from Vera Cruz. On the tMh, at Memphis, there were 20 new cases and 10 deaths from fever.
