Henri Stewart was hanged at Fort Smith,
Ark., on the 29th. He, together with his cousin, Wiley Stewart . killed Dr. John B. Jones at Caddo, I. T., in August last. A personal quarrel was the cause of the killing. Both the murderers fled. Henri was subsequently arrested in Jasper County, Mo., where his family resides. Wiley is still at large. Henri Stewart was not quite 31 years of age.
He was a man of liberal education, having
been graduated at Yale Medical School, and for several years served as surgeon on Pacific coast steamers.
He was a hard drinker at times, and to this
he attributes the culmination of his trou-
bles. He denied having any thing to do personally with the killing of Dr. Jones, but admitted having been in his cousin's com-
pany at the time of the murder
and accompanying him in his flight.
At the same time and at the same place, William Elliott, otherwise known "Colorado Bill," but whose real name was Wil-
liam Elliott Wiley, was hanged for the murder of Ross Cunningham at Muscogee, I . T., in January last. The murder followed at
