Railroai) SMAsnire. We are informed that the Ttiedar eveninir fMiu from Roekport i-an off the track, about two miles from Huatiagbtirg, on a trestle throwinjf the locomotive and two or three freisht cars into the creek. The locomotive turned upside down. The fireman jumpwl off and ecaped unhurt, but tin? engineer's head was cut. severely. Fortunately the passenger car remained on the track, so that no passengers were injured. The road-bed seems to le in lwd order in some places. Better lookto it, as another smadiup would exhtust the running horses at present on hand. KrThe iron for the completion of the railroad to Jasper, wa$ expected at Rockport Wednesday. If it got there, Mr. Branham said he would get it down in; a hurry, so that we may expect the car-; at Jasper some time next week. But! the packet company has delayed the transportation of that iron so much, that it ig doubtful if it was brought down "Wednesday, and it seems we are at the mercy or whims of the Lonisville and Evansville Packet Company, as to the time when we will be permitted to have the iron horse toot in our town. Our Railroad. Tn the correspondence of the Indian
apolis Sentinel, we find the following in regard to the Roekport railroad, which
we think presents a fair business view:
JAsrr.a, i.vn., Jan. 30. The much talked of Cincinnati and Roekport railroad is expected to reach here next Tue-
day. Hands are laying lies here to-day, and the iron track is only three miles away. Jo provision is made for its extension from here, and it seems to me
that Indianapolis aad the Pennsylvania
Railway company will mlsa a valuable
feeder to their business if thev do not
wcure its extension frora'.here to "Worth-
ington, on tne 1. ami v. railrood. Bonds will have to be sold, but an indorsement
of them by either of these large corporatiba? would secure probably a ready sale, a there is already 40 miles of road
completed, and the townships all along
tne line from nere to worthinzton
wohIiI extend liberal local aid. A short
addition of only II miles, from Spring Station to Boonville, Warrick cetuitv, a. a. . -
