JAirfiR: FRIDAY. : : NOVEMBER 16, 1878. The Sext Congre. As the result oT the etattoH on TtioS day of hut week fbl tneinbtirB of Con grew, In thirty of the Statei, embracing All whtoh kid not elected their members previously except California, tlic Democrats now have ninctceu State?, and the Republicans eighteen. If California should should go Republican at tlic lection next September, this would make a tie vote in the House in esse the eleotioa is thrown into the House. If the House should fail to make a choice by the 4th of March, 1881, the Senate would then elect the President, and the Jbenate being Democratic, would of course elect a 'Democratic President. The Democrats will have in the FortvSixth Congress in the House 152 mem rbers; the Radicals 134, and the Nationals '7 a Desaocratic majority of 18. In the senate the Democrats will have 42 members, the Radicals 33, and the Indc ;pendents David Davis, of Illinois. The Joss to the Democracy of the control of New York, was the result of a com ulna lion of Tilden and his frlonds with the Radicals to. defeat the Tammany wing of! the Democracy, Tilden going clear over to the lCepublicaus m his support of their men. Should New York money make him the Democratic nominee for the Presidency in 1880, he can find no fault with Democrats who may follow his example of bolting. Bat we hbpo by that time he will be classed with the hard-mouey advocates of gold-bearing
