Adminfctrnior of tin" eta'o of Julia Ann Huecbler, deceased, has tile.t his petition to sell tin Ileal Estate of ho decedent, his personal beiiijr insufficient to nav hit? debts: mid lhat .-aid
petition will 1h? heard nt the next term of the Circuit, Court of said County.
Attest; PirratJ. Gusmann, Clerk Circuit Court Dubois County. Tkavlor ami Huxtku, AttVs. Nov. I, '78 3 w.
The tfockpoit KHllwny. Tin jrrstliuff and Holti of this road has lwii completed to Ilttntinjrburjjf. The Courier heartily congratulate the people of tlie two town-. The. people of Kockport will probably ho mora beneiillel by It than thonj of Mnptingburjr. for it will open, up very rich Riul tcrlile coiinlry. populated with thrifty and industrious inhabitant?, to the trade
of the "bluff city. While we eonjtrutuJrIc our neighbor, however, the Courier comm iterate the snH mid narrow
spirit of the Evansville Bins lo whom
avp owe it tnat the XQnvillo rand wf
not completed to IIuHtintfburglousr aro
Every .sensible man will se that this completion of the KockporL railway to
iluutingiutrg; will cost the city of Evans ville twice (he amount of her ubscrip
tlon to the Boonville road within the
next live year. 'Now, the question arises, hnve'ndt the lax-pay era of Evansville sacriliiTd unite euoujrh mouey for
the benefit of ibe Kvansville and Crawfordsvillo Bnilraad Ring;? How lonr
nre the people of tln citv ffohijr to submit to f lie rule of this selfish ami grasping monopoly? The people- of Vanderburgh have just electtl one of the King to Congress and another to the Eegislrtiiri. We may be sure both of tirom do their utmost to prevent the conpfruction of a competing line to the 3Sat. llut why should the people submit any longer to the rule of this insatiable monopoly? Is there really n desire ntnonje our tax-payers to see Ev-
KHSville declitie Jvausvjlle Courier. The best thin? Evansville can do, is io build lier Boonville rood to a connection with the Bockport road now, which we are informed can be accomplished by building ten or twelve miles of railroad, and the subscription Evmhstj'IIc formerly made would do that much now, and then she would not only tap the '"rich and fertile country" spoken -oil", but also tap the trade of Rockporb which with proper enterprise on the part of her business men, ought to bo all secured to Evansville. In this efft. .d e would probably have the assistance of Ihe "ring" spoken of, as the connection thus, would furnish sixty miles of a very valuable feeder to the other road? centering at Evansville, would be much more valuable to Evansvillc business interests, than it could bo with a through rail connection to the Northern pystetn of roads. This road, las a locaj enterprise, with a short spur running into Pike county, but avoiding any projected connection with the O. & M. or other through thoroughfare?, would take an immense amount of trade to ISvansvillo's coflers.

Suicide. On Saturday night last Prevost, who was in jail at Vlncenn for the murdar of the Vacelet, family, an-account of which is on first page of this paper, hung himself in hi cell. The Coroner's jury had returned a verdict that lie was guilty of the horrid butchery of the fonr persons, and l"is timely suicide probably saved Knox county the disgrace of a mob hanging liim. It ts said ha was employed by the relatives of Vaeelet, in France, to come over and kill the family, so as to put them out of the way of an inheritance of valuable property, and carried out the bargain faithfully. fC?Tho following marriage licenses have been issul by Clwk Gosmann, during Cctolnsr : W.
