Chicago Time. Wasuixotov, March 3. It is Judge Thurman's intention, at an early day, to press the consideration of his bill forcing the Union Pacific railroad to give tho government good security for its indebtedness. Uiuler the rule ef the Supreme Court, the interest is not due until the maturity of the bonds. When this tima

cornea it is folly to suppose that the government will ever realise the enormous sum that will be due at that period, for the reason that the accumulated interest and amount of principal wil' aggregate a much larger hum than the entire ro id and its properties are worth. The Union Pacific railroad company, after having the use of the road aud its immense profits for years, would throw up the road to the government rather than pay their indebtedness. Jay Ueuhl U understood to be close pre-sed in carrying the stock of ihis mail, and he is hero watching very closely any legislation looking toward forcing the road to pay its dues to the government. Any such results would undoubtedly depress the stock, possibly prove his ruin. Ho has beeu a successful operator with the legislature at Albany, aud helms transferred his Albanv tactics here. Hia mode is to

come directly to his men, and employ no

third party or agent. Senator'McDoimId, who is a member of the Judiciary Committee, before which the legislation on the subject of the Union Pacific is pending, went to his room the other day, aud lie discovered a little man in black'ciu led up in his most comfortable easy-chair before the open grate. The little, keen, black-whiskered, darkly attired visitor arose with a uouchalaut air when Senator McDonald entered, and said : "You are Senator McDonald. I presume?" "Yes," said McDonald. "lly name is Jay Gould, ot New York," said the visitor. "Ah," was the reply. "You are a member of the Senatorial Judiciary Committee, are you not?" "I am," said McDonald. "I have very heavy interests pending before your committee," raid Gould, with great emphasia upon the word ''heavy." lad thea with a siaster grin he added: "I have eorae to see you about them," slowly aud carefully emphasizing the word "sec," as he looked McDonald straight iu the face. Gould's manner put McDonald upon his guard

at once, lie arose ana said in a frixidlv

Gould laughed ia reply, in a sort of contemptuous way, as if he had uo faith in McDonald's protestations, and began in a wheedling way, after the fadiioii of tho old gentleman Ir black, to talk about his interests, how much they were, aud what great eiuns were involved, when McDonald put an end to the conversa

tion by putting on his hat and coat as

he said, "Mr. Gould, 1 am ironii: out of

this room, 1 shall not listen to you, and I think you bad better go, too." This ended the conversation, as Gould saw that McDonald was hi earnest.
