One of the meet serious railway aeddente that have been reported for years occurred oa the Chicago, Rock Island and Paeiie Road, eight miles east of Des Moines, Iowa, oa the 38th. A very severe rain-storm occurred during the preceding night, by which the foundations of a bridge crowing a mall stream at that point were badly weakened. At about S:S0 a. m. the westward-bound exprees-traia, running at its ordinary peed, ran on to the bridge, when the structure suddenly gave way, carrying the satire train, with the exception f the sleeping-car, into the eham. The locomotive went down Mrst and was burled nearly out of sight in theio(tmud at the bottom of the stream. Barnum's advert.k4ag-car, which was next in posttiea oa the train, followed after andwa crushed to atoms, seven out of its thirteen oeeupaats being instantly kilted.
