The trip from Capital City over the range to this place in onr of t ho must reinnikabhi in all this mining country. Tho distance is only 20 miles, Inn- nearly half of that is over snow upon tlio range. " Yoagct up by daylight at Men-it's cabin about Ht liiulR'i' line, and find tlio little trcani of water sparkling with ice, ami after a hasty breakfast hut out so as to gut over before tlio snow becomes soft jHough to let you sink in, as in that case you would go down waist deep or more at every stop. After crowing a mountain torrent on a log all covered with ice, on hands and knues, and climbing for miles up a zig-zag trail, you arrive Ht the summit about liV00 feet above urn level, or nearly two miles and a half high. This scenery once seen is never to bo forgotten. .Not a tree or bush or blade of grass, but dwarfed and stunted herbage, and no sign of bird or animal, save now and then a Know-bird or the chipmunk, while uvun the eagle's flight is far below, and the Uoeky Mountain sheep that delight to sport upon the highest el ills prefer the southern slope until the snow is gone. On every side, both near ami far, great granite peaks half buried in the snow riso up in dismal grandeur, while silence as of death is all around. It is as if ono was above tho ordinary action of nature and even the bright beaming sun seems powerless to give mo. aiki your own heart nutters tu liiultuousiy, ami me mouth opens wido to catch the thin air as you hasten on with weary step over frozen snow to I reach a land of forests, flowers and birds below. Thenco downward, as though you never would got done de-; R'ending, along the sides of great moon-' tains of rock high Overhead and dizzy depths into which you care not to look far below ; thence upwards over a projecting mountain spur, thence down- i wards where you can scarcely stand and across a mountain torrent as white in I foam as Niagara below the falls, and ' then, footsore, faint and weary, liml yourself in tho little new town of Ourav. ...... . . iwnui uuray. ; ireely a house Id ami hardly ing is activity 1 nvury iiiing is now; sujtrrav more than a lew months old a one completed. Every thii and life; every body ieenis satisfied that a rich harvest of wealth is hid away in those nightly mountains, Tho climate, too, conduces to energy and activity, Tho town is shut in bv Miow-clad moun - tains on every side but the northwest, so that the air is always cool, and at night the more blankets you have the better you .sleep. Whether tho hopes that are built upon the treasures in the mines will be realized or not, remains to bo seen, but there is no doubt that treasures of silver and other metals arc found hero.
