bitten by a mad dog on April 30 and died on May 81 of hydrophobia. Kev. J. B. lUed, Chancellor in the Catholic dioeesc of Hartford, a., died on the 1st. Two burglars while entering the house of Samuel Hoder, at Blue Bella, Montgomery
County, Pa., on the night of the 1st., were surprised by Mr. and Mrs. Itoder. A scuffle easued, during which one of the thieves shot and instantly killed Mrs. Boiler. The train on the Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Railroad was thrown from the track on the night of the 1st, and four passenger coaches went down an embankment lb feet high. Mrs. Hower, of Scranton, and Mrs. HIckey, of Tonawanda, were killed, and 17 others severely injured. A young boy entered the National Exchange Bank of New York, on the 2d, and made some inquiries of the Cashier, and while the attention of the latter was divert
ed the boy grabbed a package containing
10,000 and made good his escape. Samuel Warhurst died of hydrophobia at
Saugus Centre, Mass., oh the ftth, having been bitten by a mad dog about two months
previously.

The locomotive was overturned in its descent and the three unfortunate men were buried beneath it. Dr. Atkinson was probably instantly killed; Richardson died within five minutes after being extricated; but Caton lived for two hours, and was enabled before he died to give a rWr account of the dreadful affair. Con
ductor Willson, upon leaving the train to ascertain what was the matter, was fired
