A dispatch from Evansvllle, Ind., on July , say that the choleta at Mount Vernon was very bad, aud bujln'8s was alinot entirt-ly su.-pcuded. More than one-half the Inhabitants had Kft town. -s. Jacob Scliaeter, of Winona, Minn., the other day jHured kerosene over a younjr fire and covered herself with Cames. She died after four hours of Intense aony. On the night of July 21, an eastwardbound train on the Chicag'. Rock Inland A Pacldc IUilroad, when near Adair, Iowa, a lonely point about fifty-five miles we cf Ies Moines, ran Into some obstructions puriwely placed on the track by a band of rubers. The locomotive and two Lagjrajre cars were doubled up and badly smxhed, and the engineer. Job n lUfferty, was instantly killed. The passenger coaches caa-e to a stop without being Injured. As soon as the train stopped, six large, athletic men, wearing maks, appeared at the express car, la which were the conductor, superintendent, express messenger, and three other pe rsons, and commenced tiring rapidly Into the car, yelling, Get out of there, d n ye ! Ge t out -t there!' Two bullets passed through the clothes of the conductor, one grazed the skull of the baggage man, and one grazed the side of the head of the express messenger. The inmates jumped out, when they were ordered to the rear, under oner ol half a dozen navy revolver. Two of the robbers marched up and down the train, threatening- to shoot any person who showed tbelr head on the train. The robbers then took about $2,000 sTa'vaa baC C X p S& Sas!f i CI t?C mail sacks, but took no letters, then mounted each a horse and rode off across the prairies In a southerly direction, the whole being done in less than ten minutes. They fortunately dii not cut the telegraph wires, and Superintendent Boy re at once hastened to the station and telegraphed In all directions. Engines and a posse of men were sent out from Council Bluff, on the Burlington and other mads, to intercept the robbers in a southerly direction. It was ascertained that during the day the robbers stole a spike bar and a hammer from a band-car house at the nearest station. They dre w tha spikes from one end of the rail, and fastened a small cord to the end of the rail and secreted themselves several rods away, and as the engine approached they pulled the rail out of place. The promptness of the enzineer and the air brakes saved the passenger from harm, as not one was inlured. The management of the Chicago, Rock IIand and Pacific Railroad have offered a reward of $5,U for the detection of the villains. Governor Carpenter, of Iowa, has offered a reward of $3u) each for the robber who sacked the Rock I -land train on

Seven were confln-d Insecure dungHns, and the balance in a large ojen room. The parties from the outside broke into the first room and then Into the vaults or dungeons. The marihaU and citizen hunted the neighboring thickets and swamps all night, and recaptured one of the prisoners, but he was drunk. The crop reports from Arkana, Mississippi, and North Alabama, on July 20, continu-d favorable, though the greater portion of Mississippi wa suffering for want of rain. A number of disguised men visited the hou-e of Daniel Galbreath, a worthy tinner of McCracken County, Ky., a few nihts sine, and demanded admittance. BHng refused, they set fire to the house, and forced Mr. Galbreath and brother, L. M. Galbreath, outside, when the outlaws fired upon them, severely wounding L. M. Galbreath, Mho fired at the party, It is thought, killing' one man. No reason Is a-igned for the attack. A difficulty occurred at Concord, Ky., recently, between R. W. Streinlett and Wm. King, contractor on the Kentucky
and C.vat Eastern Railroad. Streinlett fired two or three times, when Klii)f turned and fired, killing Streinlett lnttautly. Foreign. Ion Carlo has issued an order that the fighting Cure of Santa Cruz be treated as a rebel. The Republican forces In Spain have received orders to shoot all priests taken with arms in their hands. Friends of Edward Mill, founder and editor of the Son Conformist ave him a reception at the Crystal Palace, London, on the evening of July 18, and presented him with a purse of $.V1.000. The Carlists say that Gen. Cabrinety, the leader of the Spanish Republican forces, during the recent engagement, was killed by his own men. Advices from the same source say that the Cure of Santa Cruz has resumed his clerical duties and gone to Rome to ask forgiveness of the Pope. A wonderful gold mine has been discovered In the Argentine Republic Raid to be the richest In the world. One-half of It has been sold for $100,000,000. The coronation of Oscar and Sophia. King1 and (ueen of Norway, took place, on July IS, at Drontheim, the ancient capital of the Norwegian king's. A disastrous fire occurred at Montreal on the afternoon of July 19, destroying; the Riviere Plauing Mill together with the entire block adjoining. Eighteen families were renderenl homeless. Iass $1.10,000. . Lord Westbury, formerly Lord Chancellor of England, died on July 20, agexl seventy-three. A severe battle was fought at Ignalada, Spain, on July 18. The place was attacked by the Carllsts under Prince Alphono, and there was desperate fighting for eighteen hours. One part of the population asr-Uted lit the defense, and the other part sympathized with the Carlit. Thre were conflicting report a to which side gained the victory. A telegram from Vienna, dated July 17, states that up to that time there had been sixty-one cases of cholera reported, forty-two of which were fatal. In a single hotel, where forty-two persons were attacked with symptoms of cholera, six died. The hotel wa closed. The new Spanish Ministry Is constituted af follows : N. Salmeron, President ; Fernando Gonzalez, Minister of State and Finance; Berges, Minister of Justice; Maisonavia, Minister of the Interior;
Gonzalez. Minister of War; Oviede, Minister of Marine; Palanca, Minister of Col onies. A telegram from Madrid, on July 22, say that the crews of the Spanish men-of-war Almanza, Vittora, Mendez, Nuenez and Fernando EI Catolico having revolted, the government had lssue-d a proclamation, declaring them pirates, and authorizing their capture and treatment as such by any foreign power on the high seas. A decree had also been Issued, dismissing; from the public service Generals Contreras and Pierrard, and removing from office the civil Governors of Cordova, Marcia, Pontevidra, Ix-on and Orense. General Pavla has been appointed Captain-General of Andalusia and Kotramedra. The province of Alecante has declare Itself an Independent canton. Jules Favre.ln the French Assmbly, on July 21, attacked the home policy of the Government which punished with severity Insulter of the Assembly and permitted jurnals to Insult ex-PreMdent Tliier with Impunity. He also exposed and denounced the alliance between Monarchists and Bonapartlsts. After scenes of great disorder a vote of confidence in the Government was adopted by 400 yea3 to 270 nays. This large majority on the eve of recess was regarded as significant, and was contrasted with the vote by which the present Government was called Into being on the 21th of May, when Presi dent '1 hlers was defeated by only fourteen vote. Advices from the City of Mexico, July 16, via Havana, state that the yellow fever was spreading on the Gulf coast. A dispatch from Vienna gives an account of a visit made recently by the Emperor of Austria to the American Department of the Exposition. After a cloe and careful examination of the many articles on exhibition, the Emperor said : For Important Invention and new Invention since the last Exposition, the Americans are without comparison In tha entire building. America makes here a more varied, Instructive and Interesting display than it has, shown In any previous foreign exhibition. At Vittorla there were 7,000 Republican troops in a complete state of demoralization and disorganization. Several of the municipal officers had been murdered by
the soldiers. The Republican troops at Cirauguin surrenderee to the Carlists on the condition that their lives should be spared. In spite of the terius of the surrender, the Carllsta hhot a number of them after they had delivered up their arms. Don Alphonso bad sent to the Spanish government a formal prookltlon for an arrangement of a cartel for exchange of prisoner. The declaration of Independence at Alicante was brought aboutb arrival in the harbor of the Insurgent Iron-clad Vittorla from Carthagena. She soon after sailed, when the city returned to Its loyalty to the national government. The Governor of Alicante had arrived and will be tried by a court martial for treason. A minority of the Cortes had Issued a manifest condemning the policy of the Government. The following additional Information has been received regarding the defection of the Spanish nquadron at Carthagena. The Insurgents, alter gaining control of the city, seized Casti llo de las Gallenos, a strong fort on the west side of the harbor, and less than a thousand yards from the entrance, which It commands completely. This gave them control of two lower batteries on the shore at the mouth of the harbor. They holcted the red fiaj of the Commune over these fortitlcations and summoned the squadron lying in the harbor to surrender. The crews were In sympathy with the Insurgents, and the vessels fell Into their hand without opposition. The vessels thus taken by the Insurgents are the Victoria, Iron-clad, 21 gun; Numancla, Iron-clad, 23 guns; IVtuan, iron-clad. 40 guns; Almanza, screw frigate, 4 guns, and steamers Fernando, El Colallca, Fervalona and Blasco Garay, not classified. The four vessels first named are among the first In the Spanish navy. The French Assembly, on July 23, amid a most excited and tumultuous debate adopted a resolution! empowering a permanent, committee, which Kits during th3 recess, to prosecute the insulter of the Assembly.
