The State House is plenty good for the purioses of legislation, and its afipearuiice is a credit to the balaoco of the city, and while the municipal force of that burg is used to piwleot radicals in their violation of the law of the land, and unjustly oppress and stigmatize all who an opioacd to their usurpations, we hope uo mouey of the people will be put whore tho radical hounds who infest that locality can steal it, or be appropriated to beautify or build up their Beet It will take many years to obliterate from the minds of the masse the many raacally acts perpetrated under the protection of the officer of the law tu Indianapolis during the last ten years and the half of which arc probably yet concealed by party favoritism, but which should consign their perpetrator to everlasting infamy, aud which have made Indianapolis and its government, and principal controllers, synonnious with all that is bad and raacally, that ean be dono or thought of, and yet keep the advisors aud actors thereof out of the penitentiary -- where they ought to be. No, let us wait uutil the Capital hat shown that it is regenerated, before taxiug the people to build any more new heutet iu it for fear that its worse than Sodom and Gomorrah wickedness may call for justice from the Lord, and It be destroyed, and the State House have te be re-built some where else. We congratulate him and the town on their mutual good luck. The Trustees are making arrange ments to gradp the streets, by having the proper surveys made. This will help the town amazingly. They are also proposing to establish and open new and wide alleys, for tho benefit of this and future generations, which shows they have some foresight Tho town has five churches, with a good attendance, aud Sabbath schools ; three tobac co ware-nouses, two nouring mills; a woolen factory, three hotels, and a new one on the tapis, 13 stores aud business firms, a planing mill, betides numerous thrifty mechanics and laborers, all exhibiting prosperity, and a delermiualioo to build up their town. Et i iron : -Heading the articles in the Courier recently in regard lo school, and particularly the result of tbe inlerview published last week, lead me to ask the above question, and ask for it the careful consideration of our people. The first question, and above all local questions in my mind, is should any particular tenets of religion be taught in our Common Schools? Rev. Maude and Martin seem to think that religious education is more to ho sought after than any other, and so should be taught iu our common schools. 1 dilfer with tlieni. If our coin in on school fund is to be divided among the denominations, I fear convenient common schools for the maKses would bo at an end, aud ignorance, of the grossest kind, such as prevails among the musses of Mexico, rem, Brazil, Home, and in fact all over Italy, Spain, France, and other exclusively Catholic, countries, where religion is professed to bo the most important Ihiug taught iu their schools, w ould be the result in Indiana, and in place of mis oeiug a irec country, where every man's conscience is his own, by law, and not subject to tho w ill of any Priest, we would be divided into priost-ridden communities, educated lo respect and obey the priests of each particular denomination, until our descendants would not dare to make any trivial trade, without first consulting thier priest as it is even now with some I know of in Dubois county. One-half of the money which pays our common school teachers in this county, is the. free gift of the people of other counties of the State, without regard to religion at all. Would they be willing to donate this money if it is tO be Used to inclllcAlA enlicrinne tenets which they do not believe? and if devoted to teaching the doctrines of any denomination in the county, it would be contrary to the belief of some who assisted iu raising that money, aud whose wishes in regard lo its use are entitled lo respect
