'Will the f miners of the platform at Philadelphia say that peculiar ;lory bofiiOfflto that wins: of the party, tor the accomplishment of certain results, commonly dominated the issues of the late war. If so. the protest log Radical will say that he shares in that honor, and will not suffer a siusfle laurel leaf of ylory to bo entwined in the chaplet of the proudest hero among the hosts of ftKWT. that may not ns appropriate! y deck his own brow. The only isue that can bo imagined is one that appeals to the Mottled monopolists of the land. which are draining: tie pockets of the people ; to the cormorants of the treasury whose facilities for plunder will be appreciated thereby ; to the office-holding clan, including the numerous subjects of nepotism ; and that issue is simply Ghant. The St. Louis Rcpublic.au" has itliable advices f rom Washington l oncnu ittfj a bold eherne UM dilated by l'nsident ; runt and his parly, lo secure hi-, re-election. This is to be nc ompli.-hcd through a Democratic nomination of a third ticket at llaltimorp, and to lave this nomination made the aduiiuistra tion is exerting itself to the utmost. A number uf influential Southern men have been invited to Washington, without being informed what they were to come for, and some of these gentlemen are now iu that city. Their presence has led to inquiry, and if it has leaked out that the administration party has made them this proposition : If lli'cv will send delegations from the Southern States to Italtimore, instructed to demand a De mocratic nomination, or to bolt the convention in case it refuses to take that step, and make a nomination, the ndministration party will pass the bill to refund the cotlsm'tax, jri-ant aid to the Atlantic and (ireat Western Canal of Cieorgia, and grant aid and subsidies to other Southern enterprises and schemea now oetore Congress. This is an outline of the negotiation. and if the country will watch proceeda i a aa lugs at Washington closely for the next few days, it will see a bold development of it. It is said that one or two of the Southern men interested in the enterprises referred to arc disposed to listen to the Administration's proposition, hut, as a general thing, they resolutely in ject it, and determine to take their chances under the administration of Horace Greelev and a friendly Congress, rather than fall into the trap. The pop ular sentiment at the South is growing more emphatic for Greeley and Drown every hour, and a bargain by which the Southern delegations at' Ilaltimoie sbauld vote for a third ticket would be a gross outrage ou this popular sentiment. This administration scheme to defeat Greeley ; others will follow in due time. (Indianapolis Daily Sentinel. (ttrThc Terre Haute Nail Works are now manufacturing 2,0UO kegs of nails
