The imhlUh retnrne of the m tor unit ion thus obtained were particularly in threat in and valuable The most complete exhibit from this region, wm from the farm of the Hon. Thomae Ewhanlc, ot Illinois, who de rnonstrated hy detail of labor and land measure, that corn could be produced and put in the granary at a coat not exceeding seven cents per bushel, and that spring wheat ready for uearket averaged him a coat of but twenty-five cents icr bushel. These results wi re obtained by farming on nn extensive scale, with all the mod orn improvements." We remember, liowt ver, that at the date of thess pr"duetins the general opinion among farmers was, thst the average expense of grain raising in the West was at least hVty per cent higher than the rate given by Mr. Ewbanlc. aa Ion cents er bushel of corn, and thirty five cents per bushel ot wheat. It would be a natter of good interest if some of our agricultural societies would direct attention to calculations on the subject, and thus show the neocssity of keep ing accurate accounts of the cost and results of their operations. We apprehend that scarcely one in a doxen at our farmers really knows the exact cost ot his pioduce. From the American Agriculturist Hints Aaoat Work. Bcn.nntGs.
