Dr. Patton has taken a trip down to the southern part of the State. Mr. Bogers of Rensselwr, was in the city yesterday, .and gave us a short call. B. Mclntire has added green window shutters to his nice brick residence, which gives it a very cozy appearance. Rev. Hendryx attended the ministerial convention at Huntington week. Mr. Hendryx occupied the pnlpit in that city, some years ago. The residences of Messrs. Foster and Landon, on Ohio street and four nice buildings in the western addition and two in the old plat are under process of erection. This has been a pretty good week for runaways. One occurred on Monday, and one Tuesday, and Wednesday another fractious animal tried to run over the engine.

All farmers or property owners wanting pumps should reserve their orders for a few days, as there are good prospects of securing ' a p£?mp factory at this place. Mr. Hathaway has J’een long and favorably known to the farmers 0* this county, and needs no commendation from us. During the months of November, December, January, February, March and April 238 car loads of lumber, and 98 cars es coal were shipped to this place. We are informed that 10,000 feet of pine lumber can be loaded oma car, which would make a shipment of 2,880,000 feet of lumber to this town in less than The most of this lumber has been put into buildings. This will give people some idea of the amount of building done here this [spring. During the winter, it will be seen that the coal business has not been very slack, about 279,000 bushels have been consumod.
