Bt EarnuK. Oats are beginning to come through the ground. A youny Sucker in our midst says: “These darned Hoosiers anyhow.” Deputy Assessor Welch is around inquiring into things generally. Several of our citizens attended the quarterly meeting at Blue Gram. Charlie Wilmore returned from LaFayette Wednesday. Charlie reports wheat ripe in Tippecanoe county. The gypsiee who have been sojourning at Never Fail have left for other quarters.— They, like all others, had acquired the art of fortune-telling. The fanners are making ra;id program with their plowing, notwithstanding the cold weather, and are making every effort to raise a large orop this season. The old Jesse D. Bright farm, just the line in Carpenter township, has changed hands. A German from Illinois has bought the greater part of it and is making improvments. He has built a nice dwelling, and is putting up considerable fence. Jasper county needs many such men. . That Sunday school at Mount Prospect is now fully organized, with Thomas Kennedy as Superintendent; James Corey, Assistant Superintendent; John Jacks, Secretary ; Thomas Kennedy, Treisurer; James Kennedy, Librarian. It promises to be the most successful Sunday school in th* township.
