Correction.

In the article “Let the office seek the man,” in last week’s paper, we were mistaken in the statement that of the fifteen who were present in the convention, eight became candidates for office. We referred to the meeting at the Court House in which it was resolved to put an independent ticket in the field; and the statement should have been that of the fifteen who were sufficiently interested to speak upon the subject, eight afterwards became candidates in the so-called “people’s party.” Also in the article entitled “The situation” the types made us say that the State debt left by the Democrats and paid by the Republicans was eighty millions of dollars. It should have been eight millions— which in all conscience was enough without any exaggerations by mistake or otherwise.
