MUNSTER, Ind.—Karyn and Dr. Daniel Hurwich will be the guests of honor at the Northwest Indiana-Israel Dinner of State, Sunday evening, Dec. 12. The Hurwiches will be the recipients of the Jerusalem Medal "for their outstanding service to their community and to Israel," announced Israel Bonds Indiana General Chairman E. Michael (Mickey) Feltenstein. The dinner and reception, scheduled for 5:45 p.m., will be held at the Jewish Federation Community Building in Munster. Rabbi Raphael Ostrovsky will be master of ceremonies. Daniel Hurwich is a physician, and Karyn is a registered nurse. Natives of Chicago, they
have been active in Congregation Beth Israel and the Jewish Federation since moving to Indiana in 1993. Both come from families with a strong tradition of supporting Israel through the purchase of Israel Bonds. Guest speaker at the dinner will be Lt. Col. Gil Elan (ret.) of the Israel Defense Forces. Currently he serves as regional director of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. His previous positions include special emissary of the Jewish National Fund to the USA and Washington State director for AIPAC.
