Israel and Jordan: Atlas to speak at CST
By SHOSHANA HARPER Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at Marion College Pierre Atlas will give a talk and slide presentation about his recent trip to Israel and Jordan at Congregation Shaarey Tefilla on Friday, Aug. 20,6 p.m., prior to services. Discussion of the current situation in the Middle East and his first-hand experiences are the topic. The evening includes dinner. Babysitting is available if requested in advance. Cost: $10 adults, $5 children. RSVP: 253-4591. Budapest diary Margaret Rutherford is the featured artist at the JCC Art Gallery Aug. 9-Sept. 15. The visual diary includes poems and images of life in Budapest, Hungary, during World War II and the toll it took on the artist's family. Taste of Melton The Melton program is i sponsoring several opportunities this summer to get a taste of the two-year program for adults. Chavurah Shabbatot The group Simcha is a "Chavurah group of friends and family who gather to discover and rejoice in Jewish spirituality and mysticism." Shabbat gatherings will take place on the third Friday of each month at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis, 615 W. 43rd St. Candle lighting begins at 6 p.m. Following services is a potluck dinner.
