Experiences at Terezin The Jewish Community Relations Council in cooperation with the Indianapolis synagogues and the Hasten Hebrew Academy invite you to hear “The Journey of Frank Grunwald" in commemoration of Yom Hashoah on Sunday, April 18, 10:30 a.m. at Congregation Beth-El Zedeck. In addition, students from the Hasten Hebrew Academy will present readings. Workshops for parents IHC'sCHAI Parents' Workshop program will continue on Sunday, April 18, from 9-10:30 a.m. The group will explore "How to Raise a Mensch - What Jewish Parents Can Do." In the materialistic "me first" world, how can parents guide their children to grow into kind, compassionate, caring Jews? The interactive workshops are geared to parents (and grandparents) w'ith children in grades K-3. Instructors are Andrea Pactor and Marcia Goldstein. There is no fee or registration. Business Network The JCC Business Network brings men and women together to network both professionally and personally. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at the Jewish Community Center. Dinner is

served at 6:30 p.m., followed by a presentation at 7 p.m. by an area business leader. On April 21 Peter Beering, nationally recognized expert on terrorism, will speak on the topic "How Safe Are We in Indiana?" Beering is special prosecuting attorney for arson and bombing in the Indianapolis/Marion County Prosecutor's Office. The cost, including dinner, is $10. Day at the Derby Mark your calendars for IHC's annual fund raiser "A Day at the Derby," Saturday, April 24, at Broadmoor Country Club. It will be an evening of casino-style gaming, video horse racing, a silent auction, food, and fun. The Fundraising Committee is looking for IHC members to staff the gaming tables. Antisemitism seminar This day-long seminar held in Indy is a great way to acquaint yourself with the wonderful Jewish Studies Program at 1U in Bloomington. This particular program came into being when I was working for Jewish Studies in the 1980s. 1 had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with Joan and the late Sam New of Elkhart, Ind., both fine, generous individuals. These seminars range in topics, including Jewish history, thought, and culture. On Sunday, April 25, the llth Joan and Samuel New Institute for the Study of Judaism and the Jews w ill present this one-day seminar on the alarm-

ing upsurge of antisemitism in Europe and elsewhere in recent years. The seminar will be held at University Place Conference Center and Hotel on the IUPUI Campus, 850 W. Michigan St. Topics and presenters for the seminar include: "AntiAmericanism, Anti-Zionism, and Antisemitism" by Professor Alvin Rosenfeld, "Antisemitism and the Jews ot France" with Professor Joelle Bahloul, and "Antisemitism in Eastern Europe" with Professor Jeffrey Veidlinger.
