Social issues series The IHC Sisterhood will sponsor a social issues series on Nov. 23 and Dec. 7 with "Reform Judaism Looks at the Death Penalty" and continuing on Jan. 11 and 18 with "Reform Judaism Looks at Homosexuality and Gay Rights." Each topic will be introduced by Rabbi Jon Adland. The second session of each topic will include a panel of community guests. Rosh Chodesh The monthly women's Rosh Chodesh group will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 8 p.m. for "Inspiration and Historical Perspective of Chanukah" with a d'var Torah by Guy Kaissar followed by "Scents of Wonder" with Riki Rose. Riki will explore the effects of essential oils on our mind, body, emotions, and spirit. These monthly meetings are open to Jewish women of all backgrounds. 1 personally go to as many as I can and

This is a project of Aura Women's Organization. Kids book club Children 4 and 5 can enjoy an hour book club at the home of the Schustermans on Sunday, Nov. 30, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Snacks are included. The cost is $3. Call Fraidel for directions at 253-9152. JCC film series The First Tuesday Film Series at the JCC continues on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. with "Traffic Jam" (1991). Directed by Mitsuo Kurotsuchi, a young Tokyo couple is at the center of this dark, comic satire. They take their children to visit the husband's faraway parents, but the long road trip proves to be filled with disastrous incidents. Their journey becomes a metaphor for the gap between young Japanese people and their ancestral roots. The PTA at the Hasten Hebrew Academy is sponsoring a pre-Hanukkah concert by Uncle Moishy and The Mitzvah Men from New York on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. in the Laiken Auditorium of the JCC. If you have heard Uncle Moishy tapes, you know that the kids absolutely love the tunes. Buy the tickets before Nov. 30th and get a discount! $36 for an entire family or $10 per adult and $7 for children under 12 and their bubbies and zaidies. Prices go up by two dollars after the 30th. Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation's parent (and grandparent) interactive workshops geared to families with children in grades K-3 continues on Sunday, Dec. 14, with "The December Opportunity - Maintaining a Balance," keeping the balance between the 25th of Kislev (Hanukkah) and the 25th of December. The program is from 9-10:30 a.m., and there is no fee or registration required, although an RSVP is requested, 255-6647. Hanukkah happenings On Friday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. there'll be a family Hanukkah service, dinner, and celebration at Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, catered by the BEZ Sisterhood.
