Sept. 27,1963 One of the first Jews to contribute to the establishment of a Hoosier heritage was Moses Henry, an Indian agent and interpreter sent by George Rogers Clark in 1778 to make peace with the Indians at Vincennes. After the settlement was established, Henry was one of several people charged with operating the outpost. David Cook, Steering Committee Chairman for the Israel Bond Drive of Indiana, announced that Governor Matthew E. Welsh has been named honorary chairman of the campaign for the State of Indiana. Sept. 28,1973 The Jewish Community Relations Council has reaffirmed its stand on the subject of school integration and urges compliance with the ruling of Federal Judge S. Hugh Dillin. First v.p. of the JCRC Max Nelson reiterated a 1971 resolution calling for an end to de facto segregation. Mrs. Michael Maurer and Mrs. Nathan Nisenbaum were named to head the Women's Division for the 1974 JWF Campaign. Jack Larman is overall chairman. Sept. 28,1983 Marc Hasten has been named treasurer of the Jabotinsky Foundation, a national organization which plans to award $100,000 to the person who has done the most in the previous two years "for the defense of the rights of the Jewish people." Sept. 29,1993 State of Israel Bonds will honor Edgar and Audrey Goldwasser at the Indiana-Is-rael Dinner of State, where they will be awarded the prestigious Jerusalem Medal for dedicated support of their
community and Israel. Long-time member of Hadassah Thelma Kulwin, celebrating her 90th birthday, will be honored at the season opening meeting of the Indianapolis Chapter of Hadassah Oct. 5. As a child in Gary, Kulwin remembers meeting Hadassah founder Henrietta Szold when she came to charter that city's Hadassah chapter.

The artist employs a mixed media to present a visual interpretation of social and political predicaments. Rothenberg exhibition "Fire & Water" is the title of the art exhibit featuring the husband and wife team of Joani and Jeff Rothenberg scheduled from Oct. 15 through Nov. 15 at the JCC. Many in the community are familiar with Joani's designs on clothing and most recently as the creative illustrator of author Rabbi Sandy Sasso's books. Jeff is a physician and an artist in his own right. His works of glass are beautiful and functional. I have had the pleasure of watching him work with glass at the Art Center as he transforms a blob of glass into a fabulous bowl. Take some time to enjoy the exhibit.
