Each guest brings an heirloom which is passed down from one generation to another. It can be monogrammed silver, cut glass, jewelry, or anything that has been in the family for a long time. Of course, the history of the piece is given along with the

gift. Recipe shower While the idea of each guest bringing a recipe on a 3x5 card is not new, there are some interesting variations on this theme. Ask each guest to bring their most successful menu on 3x5 cards with details on how to prepare it, or have each guest bring a recipe and a cooking utensil used in the recipe. Another twist on the recipe theme is a recipe box filled, alphabetically, with the names, phone numbers, and addresses of area restaurants. Plant or garden shower Which one you choose would depend on whether the couple will be living in an apartment, condo, or house. Plants make great gifts as do the many wonderful pots and accessories. Aviva Mintz, daughter of Jerome and Betty Mintz of Bloomington, In., married Robert Tavel, son of Dr. Morton E. and Carole Tavel, on August 26, W95 at the Athletic Club in downtown Indianapolis. Rabbi Dennis Sasso officiated. The chuppah was in the center of the room with tables surrounding it. The centerpiece of each table was a small wedding cake. Bob and Aviva met at a Jewish singles brunch at Shapiro's, which used to be held the first Sunday of every month. Afterwards they went hiking at Eagle Creek and have been inseparable ever since.
