Louis Milrod (loft) will bo called to the Torah on January 11. Louis attended pre-school at BJE and has continued his religious education at IHC. He is in the 7"' grade at Eastwood Middle School. Louis participates in News Crew and Mighty Eagles, which is a school- sponsored service organization. His other interests include computers and any-
thing technology related; he also participates in track, crosscountry, and lacrosse. Jobi Berger (middle) will be called to the Torah on January 18. She is the daughter of Jay and Gina Berger and the sister of Jesse Berger and Alyssa and Ben Linder. Jobi is a high honor roll student in the 7' h grade at Carmel Junior High School, where she is active in

cheerleading. Her interests include softball, animals, shopping, and being with friends. Samuel Anderson (right) will be called to the Torah on January 25. The son of Thomas and Lori Anderson attends Clay Junior High School. Sam enjoys all sports, with soccer being his favorite, and playing all types of games.

By MITCHELL BARD Mi/th: Sihhhmi Huxscin was never interested in acquiring nuclear weapons. Fact: In 1981, Israel became convinced Iraq was approaching the capability to produce a nuclear weapon. To preempt the building of a weapon they believed would undoubtedly be directed against them, the Israelis launched their surprise attack, destroying the Osirak nuclear complex-. At the time, Israel was widely criticized. On June 19,
the UN Security Council unanimously condemned the raid. Critics minimized the importance of Iraq's nuclear program, claiming that because Baghdad had signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and permitted its facilities to be inspected, Israeli fears were baseless. It was not until after Iraq invaded Kuwait that U.S. officials began to acknowledge publicly that Baghdad was developing nuclear weapons and that it was far closer to reach-
