When junior’s mother nodded to the minister, who happened to be passing by, junior asked, “Who was that man, mama?” And she answered, “That was the man that married me!” And junior asked, “Then what’s daddy doing in our house?” . . , Flash! Dr. Howard Backer, (of Herb and Shirley Backer) and the lovely Anita Korngold were married in Berkeley, Calif. They make a “natural” team, as Anita graduated from Calif. State University and also from Merritt Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco! Mazeltov to all! Flash! Belated congratulations to Janet Wolf (of Joan and Walter Wolf) and David Chandler, who exchanged marriage vows on April 16! . . A Chuckle! A Hollywood producer was so impressed with the money made by the Ten Commandments that he hired a team of writers to come up with 10 more! . . . Dr. Howard Backer Weds Californian

Anita Korngold, Sacramento, CA, and Dr. Howard Backer, Piedmont, CA, were joined in wedlock on May 20. The wedding took place at their future home, officiated by Rabbi Allen Levinson. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. and the late Dr. Herbert Korngold, Sacramento, CA. Tne bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Backer. The bride is a graduate of California State University and also a graduate of Samuel Meritt Hospital School of Nursing. The groom has graduated from the University of Michigan and is also a graduate of the University of California Medical School. Matron of Honor will be the bride’s sister, Mrs. Mark Schisler, Berkeley, CA. Flower girl was Jaime Backer. The best man’s roll was filled by the groom’s brother, David Backer. Births

Michael Benjamin, the son of Evelyn and William Moss, was bom on April 29. His grandparents are Ida and Gerhard Oakley and great-grandmother is Rachel Low. The baby’s older brothers are Andrew Hillman, 13, and Scott Alexander, 9.

Sylvia and Michael Blain became the grandparents of Tzion Yitzchak, son of Zvi (Mark) and Julie Blobstein of Jerusalem. The bris was held on Yom Yerushulayim at Yeshivat Hamivtar, Jerusalem. Rabbi Chaim Brovender and the baby’s father delivered talks at the ceremony. Maternal grandparents are Dr. Allen and Rita Kropf, Amherst, Mass. Great Grandparents are Elizabeth Moser, Indianapolis and Harold Kramer, Rochester, N.Y. The Blobsteins have another son, Eliyahu Yosef, 2 years old.

You can’t live in Indianapolis in May and not be affected by race fever even if it’s in some small way. Sometimes just going to the grocery and finding they’re out of virtually everything can be you’re first hint that May is here and the fans are in town. Sometimes just scanning the parking lots of the various malls and seeing the plethora of four wheel drive vehicles is all the give away you need. But even if you’re not caught up the way some are, you still can’t be immune to the feelings of fun and festivity that are associated I with this time of the year. Claudette It’s the perfect time to entertain casually — without the fuss and bother, using ingredients that are light and natural. It’s a great time for fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables. It’s also perfect for the coolness of dairy foods. Nobody minds the absence of meat on a hot, do-nothing day. What a vacation for the harried cook. So even if you don’t plan on taking a box lunch to the race this year, consider some of these summertime treats. YOGURTSOUP 3 cups unflavored yogurt 1 cucumber, peeled and coarsely chopped 2 eggs, hard boiled Vfe cup raisins ‘A cup walnuts, coarsely chopped salt and pepper to taste mint leaves Put yogurt in a bowl and mix well. Coarsely chop the white of the hard boiled eggs. Add the cucumber, egg whites, raisins and nuts to the yogurt and season. Chill overnight (Continued On Page IN 13)
