“Words may show man’s wit, but actions his meaning.” The preceding words came from one of our illustrious statesmen, Benjamin Franklin. Ahh, the man must of known of the YME

Staff.

SPECIAL REPORT! USY INTERCITY: It took four hours to get there, but only three and a half returning. Where is there? Why, it’s USYs Intercity in Columbus, of course. Maybe the extra half hour arriving there was a sign of long things to come; for example, Long (traditional) services, panel groups, discussion groups, services, services and more services (to say the least). The meals were very nice (remember the Kinnus ones?), and the grand finale of a social Saturday night was a 1950’s Sock-Hop. In between strains of “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Bob, Bob, Berand,” you could see the looks of extreme enjoyment and excitement on everyone’s faces (cough, cough, choke). But, all in all, everyone had a really nice time (yeah — after the curfew hours). The open house of Saturday night happened to be at the biggest house of their county (I never did find out the owner’s name) and then an after open house at Debi Harris’. Unfortunately the curfew for Saturday night was 2 a.m. — but it really is because Columbus went on Daylight Savings Time then, so no one could mess around much because we didn’t leave the Sock Hop until 12:30. Sunday morning at 12:45 a very sleepy bus load of Indianapolians left their friends and Columbus to come home, sweet home. More election results, friends. Councilettes new officers (straight from their April 30th elections) are: Pres. — Randy Kiser, Programing VP — Lori Fisher, Membership VP — Melanie Lutz, Philanthropic VP -- Pam Goldwasser, treasurer — Elaine Rappaport, Recording Sec. — Rhonda Schuff, and Corresponding Sec. — Julie Weintraub. With the 500-Mile Race coming on us fast (over 180 mph, I hear), we’re reminded that STP is not only the racer’s edge but also Sigma Theta Pi. To prove it, STP is holding a Semi-Formal dinner-dance tomorrow night. First they’re having dinner at the old Holy Hock (out on College) and after that they’re moving to the Colony Apartment clubhouse for the dance. As of this writing there are about 13 couples going. So far they haven’t decided on a band or records. Speaking of tomorrow night, Baruch Ha-shem (your friendly, neighborhood National Conference of Synagogue Youth

Musical Sabbath Held At IHC A musical sabbath service, composed by Michael Isaacson, was held April 28 at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. Appearing in the performance was the Women Choir of Butler University, Soloist Wallace Ray Canderson, and the University String quartet. Stephen Richards, IHC music director, conducted. Stephanie Turner was organist.

group) is having an all-night party and that’s when it starts. Of course, since it’s that time of year, Sunday afternoon they’re serving a free lunch to all members who show up for elections at the JCCA (new location). So all you members, show up, eat, and vote for the Jew of your choice. Sabra BBG 43 is having a general meeting (we all wonder which general they’re going to meet with) Saturday night the 13th. Andrea Tobias (N’siah) reminds all Sabra-ites that their Greeting Cards are due then. Last Sunday, Sabra went to qualifications at the old Speedway. (We weren’t sure how to get that across, so we did). Next week is Shavous, confirmations, and FJYO ELECTION WEEKEND! In celebration of the last of those three, the YME Staff will present a special FJYO ELECTION COLUMN featuring profiles on the candidates, background on FJYO, voting procedures, and a run down on anything else we can think of. So, if you’re a member of a constituent organization (BBYO, USY, TEMPLE TEENS, NCSY, STP, POK, SWANK, or the TEEN LOUNGE GROUP - a member of the Center), you best tune

in next week!

The Indy BBYO Softball Bid is done and on its way to the old Regional office, friends. On the weekend of June 9-11, Ami Oskin will announce whether or not Columbus, Ohio, or good ol’ Naptown gets to hold the SOK Tourney July 23rd. TEEN OF THE WEEK: We’ve had several nominations this week of the coveted TOTW; among these have been Howard Lefkowitz and Paula Harris for the way they dressed for the USY Intercity. Chuck (Marcus Farraccinni) Glick for the way he’s handled FJYO over the past year; Marc Herman for leaving rickel and gleuck without a ride to school last week because he wanted a

snooze, and even Rhonda Solo, kin for taking rickel to school and then cutting out to Warsaw, Ind., to see her sick grandma. We decided to give it to all

of them.

VEGETARIAN’S CORNER: Nina Young. Well, folks, that’s about it here. One final note: LITTLE CAESAR’S PIZZA PARLOUR has changed its name to THE PIZZA PUB.
