Hoosier Fabrics Open Buying Office In Israel
Announcement has been made Sn Tel Aviv of the opening of a buying office by Hoosier Fabrics, a division of Hoosier Tarpaulin and Canvas Goods Co. Inc. of Indianapolis and a leading producer oi tarpaulins and canvas products. The office, at 24, Rehov Sirkin, will serve as purchasing agent for industrial textiles and fashion fabrics of 100 per cent cotton. Robert T. Goldberg, President of the 47-year-old Hoosier concern, has announced that this is the first in a world-wide chain of buying offices being established by his company, to purchase all-cotton fabrics for the manufacture of tarpaulins, camping tents, jeans and youngstyle sportswear as well as canvas luggage. At present Hoosier is the world’s largest producers of
their kind, manufacturing 25,000,000 sq. ft. of tarpaulins each year and generating a volume of over $10,000,000 annually. Mr. Goldberg sees a healthy future for exports of Israeli cotton goods to the U.S.: “The U.S. Cotton mills and other importers have raised their prices tremendously due to the world-wide shortage of cotton. Since Israel is very active in the production of cotton goods, we believe our prices will offer an attractive saving for U.S. manufacturers,” he says, adding that most of his customers are Jewish with an inbred preference to buy cotton piece goods made in Israel. Business connections aside, Mr. Goldberg is active in fundraising in his local community.
