Historic Torah A historic 200 year old Torah scroll, hand-written in Germany, was used for the first time by Purdue students to
usher in the New Year, 5728. The Torah is being held by Ken Rosenberg. The other student is Ken Krane.
Dr. Bernard Hyman Succumbs In Texas Word has been received of the death Oct. 17 of Dr. Bernard Hyman at his home in Lufkin, Tex. Dr. Hyman, 60 years old, was a native of Indiana and* once practiced in Indianapolis. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American and Texas State medical associations. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Chicago. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ruth Kaufman Hyman ami two brothers.
Miss Florence Bremen, Ronald Baker Married Mr. and Mrs. George Bremen, 4966 Kingsley Drive, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Florence to Ronald Baker, brother of Charles Baker, 8069 Dartmouth Road. The couple was married Oct. 21 at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. The bride is attending Indiana University. The groom attended college in Modesto, Calif.

Mrs. Jeannette Adler
Dies; Merchant's Wife
Services for Jeannette Adler, 77, wife of the owner of an Indiana women’s clothing store chain and former Indianapolis and Lebanon resident, were held Monday at Planner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary. Mrs. Adler died Friday in a Hollywood, Fla., nursing home. Her husband, Mark, and sons, Phillip and Leon, at one time operated women’s clothing stores in nine Indiana towns and cities. Her brother, Milton Sternberger of Indianapolis, owned seven other Indiana stores. All operated under the name of Adler & Co. Most of the stores, including two at Lebanon were sold to the Abraham Brothers Co., but still carry the Adler name. Lebanon in 1885 by Mrs. Adler’s father-in-law. Mrs. Adler was a resident of Lebanon most of her life, but lived in Indianapolis before moving to Florida eight years ago. She had been active in Red Cross work and was a member of the Boone County Welfare Board. She helped found an orphanage in Lebanon. Mrs. Adler was a member of Fortnightly, Psi Iota Xi Sorority and Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. Survivors — Uie husband and sons.
