NAMES IN THE NEWS Nepotism In The Israel Army: Dayan, Weizmann Wed To Sisters
Nepotism in the Israeli army was discovered when Gen. Ezar Weizmann, of the Air Force, revealed that he and Gen. Moshe Dayan are mishpocha. Weizmann’s wife Reulah is the younger
sister of Mrs. Dayan. In fact they reside one house apart, he told POST and OPINION stringer Jean Herschaft. Gen. Weizmann, nephew of Israel’s first president, made a big impression at the Israel bonds national conference at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. “You can tell there is a difference since the six Day War:
Welzman Before you would run out of
Israel before your car ran out of fuel, now you run out of fuel before you run out of Israel,” he told the understanding audience. The General also called for “renaming” of his country’s last great conflict. . .“the Six Day War,” lacks the feeling of a “campaign of prophesy,” or something similar, he confided. At the same Israel bond affair, Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir diverted from his printed text to inform the guests that Israel expects a relaxation from the hard line of a certain behind-the-iron-curtain-country that will bring many more immigrants from there to Israel. . .this will require
funds etc., etc., in their settlement, he said.

Freshman Pro Marty Fleckman became the first Jewish pro to join the circuit when he competed in the Thunderbird classic since the days when Herman Barron often took down prize money in the tough league some years ago. Fleckman, of Port Arthur, Tex., had been invited to represent the United States as a member of the Americas Cup amateur team, but advised the U.S. Golf Association that he was planning to turn pro. He was invited to play in the Thunderbird. He would not have been eligible otherwise as a freshman pro. MOT (Member Of The Tribe) When Jack Benny appeared at the Duluth, Minn., Arena Auditorium, marking that edifice’s first anniversary, he took time off to visit the College of St. Scholastica, where the students and faculty collected $300 which he accepted for victims of the Six Day War.
