Discussion Set At Purdue Hillel
Dr. Eliezer Berkovits, chairman of the Philosophy Department of the Hebrew Theological College of Chicago, 111., will discuss “The Death of a God” Nov. 20 at 12:45 p.m. at the Hillel Foundation, Purdue University, 912 W. State Street, West Lafayette, Ind.- Dr. Eliezer Berkovits will discuss the topic after the issue has been explored at Purdue by Christian Theologians, Dr. Roger L. Shinn and Rev. Avery Dulles.
Rabbi To Lecture Rabbi Bernard M. Cohen of the United Hebrew Congregation in Terre Haute, will represent the Jewish Chautauqua Society as lecturer at Indiana State University in Terre Haute on Sunday, Nov. 20. The rabbi will participate in a Thanksgiving program to be held at the college.

COLUMN without a NAME
By EDWARD FERSHTMAN The many compliments which I received thus far are appreciated. To keep you informed about family, friends and neighbors is the ultimate purpose of this column. This is the task which I have accepted. Some new tasks have emerged for your reporter since taking over this column. One in particular, principal speaker at the West Side Exchange Club luncheon this last week. “Manpower for Scouting” was the subject. An announcement was made recently by “House Beautiful” magazine. FREDERICK J. FALENDER, president of the Falender Homes Corporation, was notified of his appointment to the Home Builders Panel. The members of the panel are selected from among the leading builders throughout this country. (Our special congratmations to FRED from our personal contact in the building industry, this is a great achievement.) The chill of winter air hasn’t slowed the engagement announcements. Mr. and Mrs. ABE MILLER announced the engagement of their lovely daughter SHARON BARBARA to JEFFRIE BRODEY, son of Mr. and Mrs. HARRY BRODEY. SHARON is a graduate of Stanford University and JEFFRIE will be graduating in June from the UCLA Law School. March 18 is the date of middle-aisling. San Francisco, Calif., and Nov. 30 are special to Mr. and Mrs. DAVID IJPP. The event will be their 40th wedding anniversary. DAVID and ANN will meet their children, BARRY and ROBERT LIPP and Mr. and Mrs. LAWRENCE KINGSLEY to celebrate this event. The anniversaries to remember for this month end are: Mr. and Mrs. LEWIS GOLDMAN, Mr. and Mrs. STANLEY GOLDBERG (now living in California) and on Thanksgiving, HY and LEE BEARMAN. A very special anniversary last Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. ALLAN BAER of South Bend, (formerly Terrie Born from Indianapolis). Mr. and Mrs. BERNARD FLEISCHER (Libby Maurer) The Oaks, Roslyn Heights, N.Y., announce the bas mitzva of their daughter, MELENIE SUE on Nov. 26. Our best wishes for a recovery to HERMAN STEIN, a former resident of our community and now living in Chicago. Mrs. STANLEY HEIMANSOHN is in Chicago visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. HERMAN STELN. A book was recently published on “The Drug Treatment of Tuberculosis. It was written by ARCHIBALD C. COHEN. M.D. Chief Medical Service, VA Hospital, Butler, Pa. Many of you may remember ARCHIE when he was stationed here at the VA Hospital. On a visit from Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. LOUIS BECKER’S stay has been prolonged by an accident. They are visiting thenson and his family, Mr. and Mrs. NOEL BECKER. Vignettes of our Heroes: Off the coast of Viet Nam, aboard aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea, is PHILIP HABERMAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. SAUL HABERMAN. Assisting in the launching of carrier planes and repelling attacks is PHIL’S work day. Glowing are his letters of ship and comrades, and daily deeds of valor. MICHAEL RAFF, is in the National Guard to serve for 6 months. Off to visit her family in Binghamton, New York is BONNIE WOLF, leaving EDDIE to bachelor fast cars, high flying planes and speeding motorcycles.
Asthma Research Unit To Hold Benefit The Indianapolis chapter of the Children’s Asthma Research Institute and Hospital at Denver, Colo., will hold a benefit party at 8 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Board Ripple American Legion Home. Mrs. Everett Freeland is chairman assisted by Mrs. Charles Hamer, Mrs. Abe Rubenstein, Mrs. Mike Rubenstein, Mrs. Morris Adler, Mrs. Jack Dorfman, Mrs. Robert Trattner, Mrs. Nathan Stein, Mrs. Phillip Smith, Mrs. Sol Crash and Mrs. Sol Levin. The public is invited. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
Open Board Meeting Set An open board meeting will be held by B’nai B’rith Women, Chapter 324, at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 22 at the Canterberry Clubhouse West 79th Street and Ditch Road. Mrs. Lewis Sharp, past president of Cleveland’s Community Chapter; past president of B’nai B’rith Women’s Council of Greater Cleveland; a member of B’nai B’rith Women Ohio State Association, and B’nai B’rith Women District Two, will be guest speaker. Mrs. Lewis has been active not only in all phases of the B’nai B’rith Women’s program on all levels but in her home community as well. She has served with distinction in such capacities as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Federation of Jewish Women’s Organizations, as Vice President of the Federation.
