Bouquet of the Week Memo to: MAPER FLOWER SHOP 144 E. Ohio St. Send this week’s bouauet to Rabbi Solomon Silberberg

Rabbi Solomon Silberberg rates this week’s bouquet for his untiring efforts in pushing for construction of a north-side synagogue for the new United Jewish Orthodox Congregation. Since he became affiliated with Sharah Tefilla Congregation nearly a year ago, Rabbi Silberberg has initiated a variety of programs, including a Sabbath afternoon Bible class, Sunday morning breakfast club, a Talmud study group and another group studying the code of Jewish laws. Rabbi Silberberg was also one of the “wheels” behind the recent merger of Sharah Tefilla, Knesses Israel and Ezras Achim. The merged congregation will build a Synagogue at 5879 Central Ave., in a vicinity where most of the members reside. A native of Poland, Rabbi Silberberg was ordained in Warsaw in 1938. He was a member of the Jewish underground in Warsaw during Word War II until captured by the Nazis. He survived the ordeal of a concentration camp and later, e 0 ain as a member of the Jewish underground brigade, helped refugees escape to the American zone, from where many made their way to Israel.
