WHAT FOODS THESE MORSELS BE
Nothing for Company? Some Emergency Dishes
By Sarah Lieber
We were talking about entertaining in winter time when the young people have vacations from school, and when cold evenings make it very nice to invite company to share the warmth of our living rooms. One friend said she always has something in the refrigerator or freezer ready for impromptu serving. Another mentioned that she keeps a few prepared
canned foods always on hand. Someone else mentioned the many times she had stretched the pound o f chopped beef meant for the hamburg - er lunch next day into sauces
Sarah for spaghetti or other main dish- es to serve a crowd. We ail agreed that it wasn't the amount of food, or even the flavor which means most to company. It is the warmth of our sharing. And if there is no food to be put out the joy of spending time together should mean more than the missed refreshment.

Miracles Performed For Some Women By Bar-Bat Mitzvah of Their Progeny
By HELEN COHEN 1 want to correct a detail in my recent account of changes in the bar mitzvah ceremony. Before the young man is called to the Torah, he and his father meet front and center on the pulpit (they have been seated on opposite sides of the pulpit beforehand). The father, who has been holding his son’s new tailis, now hands it to him and the son
